The only ones who will respond to Parrish with disagreement are those who think he might, just might, be trying to say UNC had a greater possibility to lose a game without this advantage. After the WSU game, I am inclined to believe UNC can adapt to any situation, any circumstance, and it wouldn't make a hill of beans difference where they played. They will win the National Championship. The Cards will be their most difficult opponent, however.

It was 1979, we played in Raleigh, we were a no. 1 seed.
Penn came from behind to defeat us.
On our home court.

You just HAD to bring up Black Sunday, didn't you? There's only 1 positive about it: d00k lost too. But yeah, that's UNC's only tourney loss in NC.

Why doesn't Gary mention that almost every team has a higher tournament winning percentage in their home state. You know why that is? Teams normally play the first two rounds in their home state and later rounds elsewhere. UNC plays its first two games in the state of North Carolina almost every year. Those are games that they should win. Of course there is some level of home court advantage. Just not the level Gary suggests.
Roy denies the advantage not because he believes none exists, but because he does not want his team to get complacent in any way. His message is to his players that they need to win the game on the court.

Either way we can all agree that home court advantage is a big help. The team thrives off the energy that the fans give them. But hey that's the name of he game. No need to b*tch about something that can't be changed (as far as who gets home court advantage). It's going to be a great game tomorrow. I can't wait!! In fact in my opinion this is THE game of the tourney.

I do agree tomorrows game is gonna be one of the best matchups, but the game of the tourney will be next week in the semi finals. Cmon, Roy's boys playing against Roys former team of 15 years against the man who took his place. Well, it will be the game of the tourney if KU and UNC win there next games.

Of course I want our boys to win tonight. But I think as long as we win, it's a win-win for fans because whether we play Kansas or Davidson, that national semi will be amazing. I would love for the Heels to match up against Kansas and their fans that hate Roy for leaving, but I would also love to see Davidson make it to the Final Four. Whatever happens, Go Heels!

You're exactly right!
Two things. One, If Gary would check North Carolina's and Duke's tourney record in the Meadowlands I believe he'd find it's very good there too because they've both played the early round games there.
Two, does anyone remember reading a Whisky fan's post two days ago about Davidson playing in the friendly confines of North Carolina and how it was going to be different in Detroit?

The advantage is undeniable. The simple fact of the matter is that once the first round is over no team should be in a bracket where they can continue to play in front of hometown fans with ease. The location of games in the tourney is huge, homecourt advantage is huge. I say we move the tournament to Canada where there is no chance of home court advantage.
Seriously the UNC fans cannot say that they think it is not an advantage. UNC deserves no special treatment. If any one deserved to play in their home state most of the way it was Memphis...they only lost one game....in their homestate of all places.

UNC WILL NOT WIN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Sorry to burst your bubble here fellas but they simple do not have the arsenal to get through the next two games. U of L is tough and athletic and deep. Even if UNC manages to get through the Cards there is a buzzsaw waiting for them in Kansas...should they get blessed by the almighty to win that I don't see them beating Texas or Memphis or UCLA. It was a nice season for UNC, hell next to KU I like them most simply because of Roy Williams. They just have a hard road to hoe...hell all the teams do now.

Wow! Is that really a fact. What you are saying is that you have indisputable evidence that shows without a doubt that KU would have lossed if they were not playing at home. I would like to see this evidence. I am giving you a homework assignment ft rommel. You have from now until UNC runs Kansas over in the final 4 to produce this evidence. That gives you one week to do whatever research is needed. Get to work.

Odds makers usually give the home team (truly home game) a five point advantage over a visiting game. With that said, some teams defy odds makers and sometimes but rarely play better on the road. Despite that rarity, the statistical average is at about five points. If a home team wins by more than five points, then I would put the odds that the home team played at a higher level (did not play equally with a home court advantage) on that day.
For the game: I see UL of playing UNC tough and potentially beating UNC in a close game. I dont see UL blowing out UNC. Odds makers have UNC at between 5.5 and 6 points. I would expect a 2-3 point score differential. I see the score being 77-79 UNC, but wouldnt be suprised if UL wins in the final 30 seconds.

That's true, but the advantage is not fear of the crowd on the part of the visiting team. A good ball player is concentrating in his game, not the crowd. The advantage is due to the tendency of the officials to give some close calls to the home team.
While the home team may get fired up before the home crowd, some visiting teams get fired up by a "hostile" crowd.
One more thing. When Rick Pitino referred to the color in the stands as "Carolina Blue" it was the first time I've seen that term in the media this year. The propaganda outlets have referred to all year as "Powder Blue".

That's because those other "propaganda outlets" are stupid and don't know that the specific color that UNC uses is unique to Carolina. It is Carolina Blue, and definitely different than powder blue. You have to get certain rights to make merchandise that's the right color, and any sports catalog selling gear calls it Carolina Blue. Thank you to Coach Pitino for getting it right.

I gained a lot of respect for Louisville tonight. They played with a lot of heart and it showed. The obvious difference in this game was Hansbrough. After tonight there should be no doubt that he is POY. Every Heelhater has a standard response when the subject of Psycho T comes up. "He is good in college but will never make it in the NBA." Look, I know he won't be able to dominate inside like ha does in college, but he will definitely be a starter quality player who will give you 10 points and 8 rebounds at least. His game is still evolving and if he can knock down that 15 footer every time like he did against Louisville(and did all season long) he definitely has a place on any NBA roster.
ps The town I live in is so small we have a volunteer fire dept. that responds to emergencies by an old WW2 air raid siren. That sucker is loud! When Hansbrough came out of nowhere and jammed that put back in the second half the siren went off at that exact moment. I'm not sure if it was a real emergency or just a local UNC fan giving that dunk the response that it deserves, but after that I was confident that we had someone upstairs rooting for us. AFTER ALL, ISN'T THE SKY CAROLINA BLUE?

For starters, UNC has as much or more talent than anybody still playing in the tournament. Granted, beating Louisville will be a tall task, as will be beating Kansas, and whomever else comes out of the other side of the bracket, but I firmly believe that these heels are up to the task.
And don;t you find it interesting that the only two games Carolina lost this year were in Chapel Hill? They are undefeated on the road. They don;t care where they play.
