Cal today fired Brian Braum. Is a very good coach. He got the bears to the NCAA tourney 5 times in 12 years.  Only one in the last 5 years, but this is more than what the Noles have done in that same amount of time.

Does anyone else have any other coach in mind if we are to go after a coach? Do you feel that we need a new coach?  I have been torn on that subject all year.  And I am still not sure if we need to fire Hamilton and get a new coach.  He has improved the team but we still have not made it to the big dance.

nole18,

As I have stated in a previous post, I feel that the time is now to figure out where this program is headed.  These days, it is not simply good enough for an NIT berth year after year; that is why FSU brought him in.  Apparently, it was not the right move and now is the time to re-evaluate the position.  Hamilton a good coach, I guess, but he doesn't seem to get the most out of his players and the team is far too inconsistent to belong in the NCAA Tournament.  That is the difference between him and other coaches.  Other coaches seem to have the ability to bring their players together as a cohesive unit with less talent.  FSU needs a coach with discipline, one that will make this a team of consistency and learn how to win the games down the stretch no matter who the opponent.  Why can't FSU be a big time basketball program?  Maybe we need to find a Sue Semrau clone.  Even though he experienced problems at Mizzou, I did like Quin Snyder as coach.

Also, as I have said before, with all the money poured into the school, why can't they build a basketball arena and fill it up with fans; Donald L. Tucker Center is a dungeon.

You might see some attention paid to the hoops program now that TK Wetherell is no longer in office. He was a football player when he was an FSU student so all the focus was on that program. It's a shame too because with new hoops facilities, this team could have been a perennial ACC power. They moved over to the ACC when Ward, Sura and Cassell were there and they had the recruiting edge at the time. New facilities would have attracted some better talent (not that they've been completely devoid of it) and could have kept this team in the NCAA's year in and year out instead of the NIT. Here's hoping they get the facilities soon. The coach is not the issue. Hamilton is a solid coach. The recruiting class this year is among the best in the country. If they keep recruiting like they did this year, they will get back in the hunt for a title pretty quick!

Can we somehow get a recruiter like Pat Kennedy, the pedigree of Steve Robinson and the passion of Leonard Hamilton?  Then, we might have a coach.
