The last time Washington State won two tourney games, they eventually lost in the title game to Wisconsin.  Coincidence?  I think not.

Go Cougs and Badgers!  PLEASE give me my dream matchup in the Final Four!  Of course, then I'd have to root against the Cougs for the first time since the Bennetts took over the program.  But that'd be o.k., methinks.

By the way.  Washington State has a pretty good defense.  I think if these teams met in the Final Four it would cause analysts from around the nation to pitch fits because they would absolutely HATE to have to cover a game of fundamental basketball.  Who would they pick?  They'd probably find a way to predict both teams losing.

I'm not looking ahead as both teams have a tough weekend ahead.  I'm just saying right now that if these two teams met, it'd be my basketball dream come true.

Boy, talk about a clash of styles.  A team scoring over 100/game against a team allowing less than 50.

I sure hope Wash St can find a way to stop NC.

Good luck Cougs!

I have been pulling for the Badgers all year, misfit basketball loves company. Just keep your mittens off our coach. I know what you guys are thinking; Bo Ryan can't coach forever.

Go Cougs!

Oh yeah.  I hope he doesn't get hired at Indiana.  It might be tougher to pull him away from there.

Actually, by the time Bo retires, Tony may be established enough and have built a winning tradition that he doesn't want to leave.  I think he really could end up that good and established.

But, I have definitely thought about him being the next coach.  Don't know if it's even possible, but I have the most possible respect for him as a person and as a coach.  You guys got a quality dude there.

Me too, it would be a disaster if Tony went to Indiana. We love that guy; were terrified someone is going to steal him.

I actually attended UWGB while he was the star player and his dad was coach.  I think he still holds the record for 3 point percentage.  Averaged like 25 a game.  When they beat the Jason Kidd led Cal team it was the first great moment in my college basketball fandom life.  Been a fan of the Bennetts ever since.

I remember having class with him.  Biology or some other huge class.  He would sit with his girlfriend who I think is now his wife.  She was a cheerleader, LOL!  Bastage!  Star athlete, gets the hot cheerleader...and now the best young coach in college bball.  Thing is, he's a good dude, too, so I love the fact that he's doing so well.  He's an easy guy to root for.

When his dad became coach, he said something to the effect of "people in Wisconsin probably don't even remember me any more".  I sent him an email that said something to the effect of "How could we ever forget you..."  He actually replied to it, LOL!  Said "Thanks...that's very kind...God bless you."

I was in grad school at Wisconsin when he brought the Badgers to the Final Four.  That was simply the greatest moment in my college basketball lovin' life.  And as long as Tony stays with you guys you'll taste the Final Four at some point (maybe even this year).  I guarantee it.

Yup...I've been a huge WSU fan ever since he was hired.  And I really think they have a shot against NC this weekend.  It'll take a great game but I think they have it in them.

Badger_Colorado,

I haven't followed Wisconsin a great deal this year, but what are they going to do to at least somewhat contain Curry?  He's scored in the double digits in every game he's played this year, so you know that he's going to continue firing the ball up.

They'll start by putting Michael Flowers on him.  Flowers is one of the best defenders in the country.  The Badgers play strictly man to man and Flowers will be on Curry like glue.  They'll also probably run him around and make him play defense, fight through picks, etc.  That hurt Beasley against KState.  He had a big first half and a quiet second half.  I'm sure Bo Ryan has other things planned as well.

However, the nice thing about this Badgers team is that single or double option teams simply don't beat them.  Cal State Fullerton had a guy who scored 30 because he was on fire against them, draining crazy 3s and generally hitting contested shots, but the Badgers won by 15 and they were pulling away in the second half.

So, Curry alone will not make the difference.  They HAVE to have other guys step up or they can't win.  I'm a little nervous about the game because Davidson is easily the best team Wisconsin has faced thus far, but if they play their game they'll win handily.

And I'm believin' in the Cougs, too, GoCoug!  I think they may have a better D than Wisconsin.  And it's more than just Lowe and Weaver, isn't it?  Cowgill is a part of that bunch the whole time, too.  Not to mention their crop of Juniors have been getting lots of minutes for the past 3 years.  They are going to give NC all they can handle.

Flowers is definitely athletic enough.  Good luck.  It should me the matchup to watch.
