As a Butler alum, I don't want my Bulldogs to have to play the Raiders again this year. I despise them. It is great having another well-respected Indiana private university in the Horizon League. It makes it feel less gross.
I would love to for Butler to play Valpo in the Horizon League Championship, so do our dirty work for us and get rid of commuter schools 1 and 2 tonight and tomorrow!
Butler-VU would be an exciting Championship game. From my end, however, I am rooting for Loyola to roll through UIC and Butler. I like that matchup better for VU.
As for VU vs. Wright State, this game makes me very nervous. it is never easy to beat any team three times in one season, let alone a good club like Wright State. Hopefully enough VU fans are able to travel to Indy today to fire up the squad and push them to a few more victories.
While I have no doubt that Loyola would be a better match up for VU, I don't see it happening. I actually would like VU's chances against Butler. They played them well last time, and Butler doesn't have the same motivation as a team like VU, as Butler's ticket to the dance is guaranteed whether they win or lose.
Hey, this season has been full of surprises. I think anything is possible at this point. While I'm dreading the idea of having to play Butler a third time, on their court, I'd like to think we have them figured out after a couple very close games. Go Gold!
Congratulations Crusaders! Couldn't make it to Hinkle tonight, but watched in on HLN. I'm very pleased. You guys have so much more heart than these boring commuter schools. Good luck against Cleveland State tomorrow. Butler will be pulling for you guys!

Bro, you do realize that Valpo won more games against Wright State in one year than your gang of Happy Days rejects has won in 12 tries. Keep up the good work. I hope you get a #3 seed and run into another team that does nothing but slow down the pace, runs a 1950's offense and calls it "sound fundamentals" because they lack the athletes.
Am I little bitter, sure. But Butler fans at the "heartless" Nutter Center are sort of like Penn State fans before an Ohio State football game: VERY vocal. Then an amazing thing happens, and it always does, a 10-12 point run right after halftime. Usually quiets down section 207 and usually the Butler fans are running for their Ford F-150's by 2:00 minutes left to "beat the crowd."
Butler has never won a 'Horizon League' Championship. The last time we won a conference championship was back in 2001 when the league was called the MCC. And yeah, Butler loses most of the time when they have to play Wright State Wrong College. I know!
And CSU, what the hell. Last time I checked your campus is an office building in downtown Cleveland. Exciting.
Consider it a gift when Butler is ranked all year and gets an at large bid and then loses the conference tournament to schools that would never have a chance going otherwise. Personally, I think it is sweet having two Horizon League teams in the tournament. But I'd rather see Valpo beat Butler then any of the other schools that play in this league this year.
And I'm not sure all Butler fans drive Ford trucks?? But, I will go out on a limb here and say that Cleveland State 'fans' a.k.a. the homeless shelter drive UFOs to the games.
And I also can't see Butler being the 'Penn State' in that analogy. Butler is the goliath, they have been ranked all year. That seems more like OSU football to me. And I don't think anyone cares about Penn State football outside of State College, PA...which sort of sounds like the wonderful state schools Ohio has to offer that play basketball in the Horizon...
Good luck to you sir. Make sure to wear your tinfoil hat to the game.
Oh wait... you are a Wright State fan?? I mean it does make sense now. The homeless don't have the innernettes. Now Wright State Wrong College... did you know that you're technically not allowed to claim OSU as your football team? I mean, if that is how you mentally and emotionally compensate because you attended WSU, I understand.
Are you really really a fan of Raider basketball? Or just when you read in the paper the day after that they beat Butler again this year, so then the next game you'll be sure to check the score and then every game after they play? Does that make you feel like you really really are a team fan?
Or are you one of these 'village' people that gets carted off on a bus from Fairborn, OH and shipped to various Horizon League sites, given a green shirt and a sign that says "Help me I've Been Kidnapped. While I'm here I guess GO WSU."
Or do Wright State fans actually go to other games besides the Butler game? I didn't think you cared.
Your new coach seems to be pretty hyped. Now just change your admission standards, location, and school name and we sir, have got a solid D-I basketball program that won't make people laugh and point at Butler when the Dawgs lose to them, instead of being applauded and praised for taking down a ranked team year, after year, after year.
sucks don't it?
Go birth of aviation and underground tunnels to class!!!

Great Post, Rookie!
Wow. I was say, as I sit here in my tar-papered shack, that I'm very impressed with your prose. I understand that Wright State has a bad name. Our university was named for the men who make the 4 hour trip to Vegas possible. Your University was named for Mr. Belvidere.
Can't argue Fairborn and Indy. Fairborn has the highest percentage of Chinese Restaurants in the United States. Indianapolis is the capital of the Northern Appalachian Republic. But it's cool
The cool part of it is the witty chants that Butler fans have seem to use: Wright State, Wrong School"--Funny, but if the University of Dayton didn't start that, oh 20 years ago, it would be real funny. "You'll work for us"--Yeah, another original one--usually after getting down by 10 points and having nothing else to cheer for. I guess my cheap education didn't give me access to cool chants like that. Maybe if I would have "wisely" invested my $20,000/year for tuition, that could have happened. But I didn't and I sit here in my tar-papered shack waiting for the Chinese food to be delivered through the blizzard. Damn, if only I had been cool enough to go Butler. I mean a team with a strong football team, like Butler. What was I thinking?
Me--I'm more a numbers driven guy. I applaud Butler for ambushing teams in November and December. I enjoy Richie Cunningham, Potsy, Ralph Malph, Jimmy Chitwood and Eddie Munster go out and knock off teams in November...and then promptly play at Wright State and lose and lose and lose. I'll give it up to Valpo, they have been in the league one year and have a 3-0 record against Wright State. In the last 12 meetings against Wright State, Butler is 3-9. This is why I enjoy the Butler Way!
Go Dawgs! Please continue to beat everyone else and keep bringing joy and happiness on all of your repeat trips to Fairborn!
Bismarck, I like you. I really do. I think we could have been buddies in another life.
I am very appreciative of Dayton's clever mockings of Wright State's short comings. I have come to accept these as common knowledge. However I'm not sure a born-and-raised Indiana Butler fan would repeat these things, for in their eyes, Ohio is not the superior land territory.
See, growing up in Ohio myself, I know all about the wonder and beauty of the state's lesser known schools. I have been a supporter of Bowling Green football my whole life, and while it should be embarrassing to like a MAC school for anything, nevertheless I cheer for the little guys out there.
But I digress. Butler's cost of education has inflated to a pocket-emptying (and then some) $30,000. I feel sorry for anyone that would go there without a full ride or 50% scholarship and have to pay full price for a 4-year Belvidere-training session.
I enjoy chinese food, and all other on campus food dining options that WSU provides. Fairborn is a booming city, with new stores and eateries opening up everyday. I hope to retire one day and see my grandchildren run through the air force base, one of the many sites that makes Fairborn "the real america."
I have to go now and watch Butler yawn past another exciting school, the UIC Flames. You'll have to let me know if the Raiders make it to the NIT. I hear it is impressive these days to grab a few wins in that tournament. Good show!
And come on, Butler football? Does Wright State even have a football team? Let's play fair. You can't pick on D1-AA football.
