C'mon.. 10 straight years of this crap?? never a sniff of the playoffs?? Yet a great fan base, incrediable arena/atmosphere, and local TV & radio support for this???
I'm done with the home team.
It's run badly from the top down.
Empty promise after empty promise after empty promise.
Now it's closing in on the trade deadline and mgmt is trying to butter up the fan base with unloading all vets for yet even more draft picks to BUILD FOR DOWN THE ROAD IN THE FUTURE.
enough already.
just blow it up or move the franchise.
Jody Shelly might not be scoring and I understand the trade to San Jose, but he was one of the few players fans could associate with and root for and build on, because everyone else is gone or traded after 1 season here. The turnover is ridiculous.
Shelly gets traded just days ago, and helps beat the Jackets last night on San Jose with a game winning assist.
(sigh)
screw the Jackets, I'm done wasting my time on a bad organization.
(How long until Buckeye football, anyway?)

I hate to say it, but I agree with you Slobberknocker. I have lived in Columbus all of my life and was raised on hockey. The team seeems like they are constantly "stuck". We should be trying to load up our team to make a run for the playoffs. Not get rid of one of our most liked player.
When we first got the Jackets, I was a die hard fan and I told everyone to give them a few years to build a team, but it has never happened. I've gone back to rooting for the Canadiens, because the Jackets just aren't worth wasting my breath.

Good I'm glad your not fans anymore! I guess the really fans will enjoy going to the playoff games this year! I will say it not when we get good old 91 back and everybody healthy we'll make a push for the playoffs. By the way as bad as we have been playing after the All Star break were only a game back! You guys go ahead and jump off the playoff wagon!
As for trading players Columbus natives liked who cares. Jody Shelly might be one of the worst hockey players in the NHL! He doesn't skate well and he can't handle the puck. I was glad when they traded him away. Boll does the same thing Jody did but hes younger, he can score, and fight! I loved seeing the red neck fans at bluejacket games cheering for Shelly when he fought! I get it you need certain players to stick up for your Stars! Guess what Shelly was dead weight in the new NHL! He couldn't do anything but fight! If you want to make the playoffs you need every guy on each line able to score or help out by assisting. Shelly couldn't do that anymore!
GO JACKETS!

Dude you have hit the nail on the head . We get out skated nightly. Thank God I gave my tickets up tonight.
I mean go ahead and trade Foote to Colorado, we know he dosn't want to be here , read the article in the Dispatch earlier at least get some picks and not Fifth or sixth rounders.
I know your frustration and you' ll come back just like I will, it just gets frustrating seing them play so well before the break and then come back and look like well CRAP!
And as far as that other guy goes yeah we do know who will be there all of us , If they do make the playoffs. We should proably think about winning two in a row first though.Any how thanks or the thread.

PLAYOFFS??
Down 4-0 to the Blackhawks last night at nationwide arena... AFTER 1 PERIOD!!!
game over.
I've moved on. I now have better things to do with my time than invest it into this organization.... such as pick butt-crack lint outta my backside... or watch the snow melt outside my window.

Maybe I'm missing something but being only 4 points out of the playoffs with 23 games left is definitely progress. Despite the horrible performance on Wednesday they're still in it (and up 4-0 AT Detroit as I type).
Let's support the home team and not jump off the bandwagon. I think they're headed in the right direction. Howson is infinitely better than McLean and Hitch is one of the best coaches in the league. We have talent but unfortunately don't have much depth. I think if Freddie and Sergei play down the stretch we'll see the Jackets in the hunt through the final weeks!
Go Jackets!!

Yeah i don't think were out of the playoff picture yet! We just beat the Red Wings who are the best team in Hockey record wise! We are one game or 2 points out of the last spot for the playoffs! The jackets just need to get more production out of their young talent!

Yeah, I feel your frustration. The jackets will always be my team. They fit right in with the rest of my teams. Browns (no titles since '64), Indians ('55), and Cavs (never). However, at least the Cavs, Indians, Browns tease me with a playoff run every once and a while.
One can only talk about the great atmosphere at Nationwide for so long. We NEED a playoff game!
Quick, name the ONLY team in the NHL to never participate in a playoff game... that's right... our Bluejackets!

who cares about osu, but anyways, the Blue Jackets are the closest they have ever been to making the playoffs this far into the season and that is something you have to recognize. I agree the turnover is awful and it would be nice to see a player develop a long career in Columbus. Nash is gaining mass publicity especially with that goal against Phoenix which is viewed almost over a million views on YouTube. Give it time and I know it is really hard to do that.

2-8 IN LAST 10 GAMES FOLKS.
vets will be dealt soon to legit playoff contenders, we'll miss again.
Give it time? That's funny. In a few weeks, we'll "be building towards the future". again.

So quit rooting for the Blue Jackets. I have been a fan of them since they started palying. Yeah, it sucks to not see them make the playoffs but that's part of being a fan of a team.
How many years did the Buckeyes flounder and not win a Championship under John Cooper? Did you quit rooting for the Buckeyes? Not likely. Your final comment proves that.
If the Blue Jackets won 5 straight Stanley Cups, they would still be the "other" team in Columbus.

I'm going to retract what i said before in a post with saying the Jackets are going to make the playoffs! They really don't play with any heart, they just seem to go through the motions! Am i not going to be a fan anymore because of this no! I will still root for them but i think they need to trade away Peca, Federov, and Foote to get young talent to build for next year! Plus the Jackets will have tons of cap room, but its not like ownership wont dust off the wallet! HAHAHA! If they have to, try and trade away Fritshe or Manny they both suck! They would be in the minors for most teams in the NHL!

Yeah, it's frustrating watching the CBJ. Lose to LA, Chi, Phoenix at home, beat Det, Ott on the road. What the hell!? But I'm not about to cash it in on the home team. I'll keep pulling for them. And they are headed, slowly, in the right direction. It's what?--4 days to the trade deadline? I don't think we'll stand pat this year. Hopefully Howsam will show he's a big step up from MacLean here. Maybe we can address one need (a decent playmaking center, for example) before the trade deadline and fill in some more over the summer through free agency. It'll be our best finish ever (though not in the playoffs) and we might be primed to finally make a legitimate move.
Go Jackets!

Nelson I agree with you 100% on Shelley and Give The C to Nash, and keep Peca !!
I Do think Howsan is a good gm but we have got to get picks and I mean good pick for Foote. I don't think moving Hainsey is the answer in the back .
Maybe they needed this road trip to sort things out, I sure hope cause I have tickets for the rest of the home games.
