Scott Cacciatore loves some 27 year old break out stars this year:
Alexi Rios should put up MVP type numbers this season. The Blue Jays offense isnt that great but heres a hunch that Vernon Wells bounces back with a big season and him and Rios form a dominant one two punch.
Curtis Granderson: How can you not lilke this guy. He is only getting better and that Tigers offense is scary. I got a feeling he will lead the league in runs scored this year at around 130. Grab him if you can.
Justin Verlander: Of course this one isnt that hard and with Santana on the Mets I think its Cy Young for him. That offense is just to good for Verlander to be held under 20 wins. The Tigers can also play some great defense with the addition of Renteria...they are great defensively up the middle and Verlander will roll all season.
Cole Hamels: Shocker huh? His only drawback is that small ballpark he pitches in..which will keep his ERA higher then it should be. He has the benefit of a dominant offense. He should strikeout over 200 and win 16-20 games this season.
Not as high on:
John Maine: He had a very bad second half last season...maybe his arm was tired from throwing more innings then he ever has but I never like pitchers that have bad second halves going into a new season. He pitches on a good team which is a positive but i got a feeling he will be picked higher then his value actually is.
Jered Weaver: Yes he will win games because the Angels are good and except for the Mariners, the West is a bad division..but something about him worries me. He is very injury prone and hes another who will be drafted higher then he should.
Matt Cain: This guy I like alot...but not on that pathetic Giants team. They have no bullpen and no offense which isnt good for a starting pitcher. The Giants are easily the worst team in their division and even if Cain pitches well I just dont see him winning that many games.
Rocco Baldelli: Every year the experts think this guy will breakout and have a great year. I hear the same thing every year and he still has yet to even produce a very good year, forget breakout. For whatever reason he has high value but not to me. I never drafted him, traded for him, or even had him on my team
