The Buffalo Sabres signed G Patrick Lalime from the Chicago Blackhawks to a 2 year $2 mil. deal.  Lalime (33), a former All-Star, went 16-12-2 last year with a g.a.a. of 2.82.

I would've rather had Alex Auld as Miller's backup, but Lalime isn't bad, in a back-up role.

Apparently, the Sabres are also targeting defensmen Brooks Orpik, Pit and Wade Redden, Ott.

Well , as  I  see  it , Lalime  is  a  good  back up   and  for  him  to  sign , the  Sabres  had  to   guarantee   at  least  15  games ,  as  a   starter . So  I  guess  that's  works . Now  they  are  looking  for  a   o-defenseman   and  are   looking  at  Orpik . I  think  that  they   get  him ,  because   they   have  his  brother   in  the   minors . Redden   signed  with   the  Rangers  ,  with  too  much  money . He's   on  the   end  of  his   career . Talking  about  too  much   money ,  how  about  Soupy , going  to   the  windy  city  for  7.1  per  year . WOW ,  I  mean , he's  a   good  "o" de-man ,  but , 7.1  a  season ?  That's  too  much ,  it's   going  back  to   no  cap ,  which   was   do   stop  that .

I'm fine with the Sabres sitting still (other than Lalime) based on the prices out there.  There are players being signed that will leverage franchises for many years to come.  The Rangers may be the dumbest front office in all sports with the only other contender being the Detriot Lions.

No , GBuck , the  Rangers   are  the  second  dumbest  team . The   stupid   team  is  the  Canucks ,  who   are  going  to   try  sign   Sundin   for  two  years     at  20  million  dollars .  Now  that's   dumb  . I  mean ,  Sudin   is   a   good  player  but ,  20  million  for  2   seasons ?  SHEEZE !!
