Today begins Part II of the legendary Subway series. I will be in Pennsylvania for the whole weekend, so I will not get a chance to watch most of the games. But, my gut is that whoever loses this series, if it is that bad is in for a world of hurt in the next two weeks especially with both teams playing tough competition before the all-star break
Mets - (Yankees, Cardinals, Phillies)
Yankees - (Mets, Rangers, Red Sox, Rays)
Game 1 - Pelfrey vs. Giese
All Yankee fans are hoping that Giese can keep this up just like he did in the first 6 innings against Cincinatti. Pelfrey has pitched well as of late, but I am wondering when we will see the bad Mike Pelfrey that used to be on the Mets. I think the Mets will take Game 1 mainly because of what the Yankees had to endure last night with the 3 hour rain delay. They will be tired and lackadasical.
Game 2 - Ponson vs. Martinez
Game 2 should be a definite shootout for runs. Pedro has been shaky and the Yankees own him due to the fact that they have seen him so many times. WHO"S YOUR DADDY !!!!!! Ponson has not been that good and he is not the answer to the Yankee pitching problems. The winner of this game will come down to who's bullpen is more refreshed and I think the Yankees with Rivera will be able to pull this one out to even the series.
Game 3 - Pettitte vs. Santana
Hopefully Andy stays hot and the Yankees can finally hit Santana, but Johan is due for a big game because if he loses Saturday, he will drop to 7-7 and then Mets fans will really go off on him. Andy is going to need to go past the 4th inning unlike his last start against the Mets. Johan is going to win this one easily.
Game 4 - Rasner vs. Perez
Bost starters stink but Perez is more inconsistent than Rasner at this point. Rasner should bounce back while Perez does not have any mental toughness left in him. Yankees win and split the series.
So, the Subway Series will be 2-2, a split. Both teams will have more questions than answers after this weekend.
