Feel free to give me zeros, but I was a Laker fan as a kid. Loved Magic Johnson, plus he and I share a birthday. Plus, we didn't have cable, so playoffs were the only time I could really watch basketball. Unfortunately, LOS Spurs weren't there yet.
But I jumped on the Spurs bandwagon in 1990 (?) when David Robinson joined the team. And I haven't cheered anyone else since.
Oh yeah, and now I HATE the Lakers.

Not all of us are like the disrepectful fans that you ran into with your kids. I apologize to you and your family for the situation that you were exposed. Why the reference to loving the USA. We're patriots too. We love America.
Fan is short for fanatic. When you visit the oppositions' home you will experience some ribbing, I hope what you went through wasn't over the line. Your Lakers have some fanatic fans also, ie Jack Nicholson. Again sorry for what you went through.
By the way, Showtime seems to be happening for the Spurs as of late. One for the thumb baby!

I became a Spurs fan when David Robinson came and spoke at my church. He was such a impressive man I followed his career, and feel in love with Spurs style basketball. Which every one should recognize as, true team Basketball. That is why they are the best.

I have been a Spurs fan since about 1988 or so when I was six. This was when i became a sports fan and I have always held a special place for the Spurs as my only hometown team.

Spurs fan since the day Tim Duncan was drafted. I'm not local and hail from NC. Grew up pulling for the Boston Celtics but always appreciated the Ice Man. In fact I saw a playoff game with my pop in 78 between the Washington Bullets and Spurs. After the Celts totally tanked during the Pitino debacle and the Hornets were busy pissing off all of Charlotte and the surrounding areas, my allegiance to Wake Forest during the glory runs of Duncan parlayed into pulling for the Spurs. And unlike the 80s during which a Celtics fan detested the Lakers but respected them, to me San Antonio is such a class act compared to the majority of other NBA teams. There are no punk ass, thugs playing for the Spurs with severe character flaws ala Kobe of the Lakers, Anthony/AI/Martin/etc of Denver and on and on.

My fandom was cemented after I watched, from the upper Hemisfair Arena balcony, Sean Elliott get drafted.
I heard a guy scream "Why did we draft a cripple?!" Hehehe, he probably owns an Elliott jersey now.
