No. I am one of the few last year who was not calling on Bostonites to run him out of town. Many players struggle in their first year on a new team, especially in a pressure packed place like Boston on a team as loved and scrutinized as the Red Sox. On top of those things, J.D. Drew had to deal with a very sick child in his personal life, which would be a nearly impossible thing to deal with without it affecting you in some way. With all of that, Drew had a very rough year, but played a major role in the Red Sox World Series run, with the highlight being his grand slam in Game 6 of the ALCS against Fausto Carmona.
I still believe that he is a streaky, injury prone, and slightly overrated/overpaid player, but he is still a better than average RFer and I expected both he and Julio Lugo to have improved years even if he didn't/doesn't quite live up to the contract he signed. When he gets on a hot streak (like now) you can see all of the talent on display that has made him such an enigma to scouts and analysts since he entered the league, and its fortunate for the Red Sox that this latest hot streak is coming with David Ortiz on the D.L.
