Guys..seriously ...the Lions Had a terrible running game in 2007 ( they were nearly last ) -- adding a RB in the secont to late round instead of addressing the Problem first was Millens first mistake..i agree they needed a OT to strengthen there Line but look at who they passed on -- Felix Jones... he could of been a great additon to your team....usually when you get rid of two RB's that tells me that you need to draft one ..instead he skips on a potential offensive threat .... cant belive you all werent suprised. --And i dont take much stock in Millens draft history Look at some of his picks that have turned out to be busts... hes not a good GM and UNTILL hes no longer detroits GM the Lions will continue to fall short of playoff hopes.......... and Yes NOBals.25% .. Losing Favre was a big loss...but the Packers have put faith in Rodgers ( who has sit behind him learing the system...) if you watched the Cowboys game he showed signs that he could become a great QB ( But again thats TBD ) ... and they also have a great core of young players around him -- so the packers have prepared for Favre's retirement.
BTW thanks for the tip

Lol... it's no longer Brett Favre Battlefield, but rather Mr Rodgers Neighborhood.
adding a RB in the second to late round instead of addressing the Problem first was Millens first mistake..
You have the right to your opinion, as do I, mine was protecting the QB first. Rod Marinelli gets the credit if the rookies work out, if they don't, i'll be in the picket line protesting Millen with ya.
usually when you get rid of two RB's that tells me that you need to draft one
I think thats why I like Rod Marinelli so much, he does what he believes is best for the Lions and not what the so-called-experts(espn, etc...) say what the Lions needs are (rebellious). Kevin Smith fits the zone running scheme and picking up UDFA Allen Ervin who runs to the outside just as good if not better than hitting the holes at the line, whom I hope the Lions cut Brian Calhoun to keep Ervin on the roster has their draft needs met IMHO. Whether the salary cap played a factor in not drafting high-profile players or not, i'm ready for some Lions football.

Man guys I know Im a little late on the topic but, there are some things that has to be said.
First, this Kitna/Grossman thing is rediculous. I will stand in Grossmans defense here on this one. Actually, I think if you swap the two and gave Gross our recievers, he has a field day. I can honestly say that the guy does have a arm and its a nice looking one too. Too many times when Grossman was playing decently, his recievers dropped some balls. Kitna and Grossman both fold under pressure. They are both though as nails though I have to admit. Grossman is definitely in the WRONG system. That bullcrap of a system they have him in is pittiful. I absolutely admire Kit, but there truely isnt too much of a difference in the two.
As I have been stating so much, Consistancy is the problem for the Lions. They have a huge problem with that. At least the Bears used to be consistant on one side of the ball.
We (The Lions) definitely are more talented than the Bears. "On paper". Who knows which team of the North will emerge this year. Strange things always happen. Who cares about the past, it has no influence on days to come. We beat them twice last year, but you cant tell me that in your mind that you can garauntee they will do it again.

Whats the deal with Lance Briggs. This dude is a clown.
Team Leader ~hardly. This guy is the Shawn Kemp of the NFL. Briggs is providing cash for a pregnant Chicago woman, 20-year-old Yesenaya Toledo who is due to deliver Briggs' baby this summer. In another lovely twist, Lawyers said Briggs should be charged with perjury for denying, in a sworn deposition, that he knows Toledo. The guy has 2 other kids with seperate baby mama's. Jeez Talk about baby mama drama... He will be the Bears chemistry killer, and watch Chicago dump this dude .
Fighting with the Bears over money and vowing to leave via free agency, only to crawl back for a six-year, $36 million contract -- a deal the Bears can wiggle out of after two years and $14.9 million in payments. If theyre smart.. The harsh reality was there were no other suitors. This after totaling his $400,000 Lamborghini at 3 a.m. last September, then fleeing the crash scene for unspecified reasons. After pleading guilty to leaving the scene and not reporting the accident and being ordered to serve 120 hours of community service, only to admit recently that he'd served just two hours. Two!?
Now hes in the Press supporting Urlachers hold out , suggesting that not only training camp but also regular season games will be missed. Saying that Brian has ``outlived'' a nine-year, $57 million deal that has four years remaining. Great Job widening the gap between management and players genius.
For Chicagos sake I hope this guy grows up, works hard and keeps himself out of the spotlight and papers. He is way too talented of a player.
The Bears have become the NFL's version of a supermarket tabloid.

Out of the same weakside position as Briggs, I think Ernie Sims will have better production this season. And more big plays.

Lionswhyme - i agree the Lions needed to address the Offensive Line...but there not going to do well if there rookie RB cant get the job done ( or struggles his first year ) they'll need to rely on the Passing game and that will put ALOT of pressure on Kitna ( and he doesnt do well under pressure )-- i personally think that there going in the right direction but i dont get alot of Millens draft picks...it took him a while to figure out he drafted too dud Recievers ( then finally dumped them ), and picked up a Backup RB from Denver ( Tatum Bell ) that i always seen as a "system type RB" and someone who wouldnt gain succes in Detroit ( because there offensive line still has weak spots ) ...
IF Detroit was smart next year they would
1. Draft a QB: Kitna is getting old and if they get a high pick ( or have one already ) they should think of drafting one and get ready to replace the 35 year old Kitna --- the smartest thing my team ( Green Bay ) did was to draft Rodgers and then Brohm to get ready for Favres Retirement -- if Kitna does stay another year at least he can learn under the Veteran and then be more prepared when hes called to start
2. Keep Building Up there Offensive Line / Defense : Again teams like Green Bay , New England , Pittsburgh ex...who had added talent ( even thought they had a pretty good offensive line already ) --- were smart and added depth in case one of there O' lineman got injured...also they need to add to there weaknesses..and mabey add younger players to key positions that way they dont have to worry when a veteran player Does leave ( via free agency for more $$$ ) or Retire.
3. Add another exsplosive Reciever : They added a young reci | |
