How to measure height for basketball players -

	I'm wondering why players' heights are still measured from the top of their heads. I think we should all push for a new trend, where players measurements are given in height by measuring from the ground to the top of the shoulders and in length by measuring their wingspan. What do other people think?

	How about measure to the armpit and then out to the tip of the fingers. Really that is the furthest the guy is going to be able to reach.

	I like wingspan, if your shoulders are wider, you can flat-out reach farther. I have a 6'6" wingspan it's really helpful when playing pool, unlike the competition, I can reach any shot on the table without the pig-stick. Why not to the top of the head? I think they should take their go-go boots off when they're measuring, though.

	Yeah, Chip, I think you're right. But you see what I'm saying. How useful is it knowing how tall a guy is up to the top of his head? How long or high a player can reach is all we need to know anyway, and if players' measurements started being listed like that it would be easier to gauge a player's physical presence in regards to basketball.

	Wingspan and the length of your shoulders does affect how far you can reach from your hips/center of gravity/feet are planted...
