Hey everybody. Welcome to the thread. Tonight, the Atlanta Braves (21-20) take on the Oakland A's (23-20) in the second game of a weekend series from Turner Field in Atlanta, GA. The Braves won the first game 3-2 in comeback fashion, on former Athletic Mark Kotsay's two-out RBI double in the bottom of the 8th. Kotsay was acquired in the offseason for pitcher Joey Devine, who struck out Kotsay who pinch-hit in the 6th. Another former Athletic, Tim Hudson will be on the mound for the Braves tonight as the A's counter with their ace, Rich Harden who will make just his fourth start of the year.

PITCHING MATCHUP
Rich Harden - OAK - 1-0, 3.68 ERA, 20 K, 11 BB
Tim Hudson  - ATL  - 6-2, 2.54 ERA, 35 K, 10 BB

Harden was on the DL for most of April. He was activated last week made his first start against last Sunday. Harden did not pitch well, only going 3.2 innings while giving up 5 earned runs on 8 hits in a no-decision.

Hudson will make his first start against his old team in his career. Hudson has been lights out in May, winning all three of his starts so far this month. His stat line for the month of May: 23 IP, 2 ER, 11 H, 18 K, 5 BB. That's an ERA of 0.81 for the month.

ROSTER REPORT

Oakland has sent 3B Eric Chavez to the A's AAA affiliate Sacramento for a rehab assingment. P Santiago Casilla was placed on the 15-day DL with a elbow injury. IF Gregorio Petit was called up from Sacramento to take his roster spot.

Atlanta has sent struggling starter Chuck James back the AAA Richmond. Jeff Bennett will most likely take his spot in the rotation. Reliever Phil Stockman was called up to take James' roster spot.

Post your thoughts, observations, play-by-play, rants and whatever. I'll be on the GameCenter GameLog and on the thread.

LET'S GO BRAVES!!!

Additional note on Hudson: He is 0-8 with a 7.32 ERA in 10 starts against the AL in interleague play. He holds a 10-10 career interleague record.

Great stat right there on Hudson.  Let's hope he can overcome that for this game.

Ouch. Jack Cust homers and the A's lead 1-0. Jack Hannahan almost knocked one out too, but it went foul. I'm not sure how to feel right now. It seems Hudson has good stuff so far, he's throwing strikes.

Since there are about 2 players left from when Hudson was there, playing his old team shouldnt really bother him. Im not sure how he gave up that moonshot. That was to deep center. I'd say 410 at least.

Why does Esco keep swinging at the first pitch? I dont get it. He needs to sit tomorrow because he is horrible at the moment.

I love the line up tonight but your right cheesehead he needs to stop swinging at the first pitch even if they have to give him the red light just to wake him up. We need to root for hudson, hes not doing to good to start the 2nd either but he does look like he has some good stuff. C'mon Huddy get it together bud.
