The Indianapolis Star has dubbed Peyton Manning the king of QBs.  This comes in the wake of Bret Favre's "retirement". Do you agree, or does this title belong to another player?

Unbiased source you got there.

Just kidding.  He has been the best QB in the league for years now

Peyton Manning is the best in the game, hands down. When he leaves the NFL, he will be the best QB to ever play the game.

I love Manning.  He's a bit of an asshole but a great QB.  He's flashy.  He makes the big throws and throws tons of TDs.  He's extremely intelligent and he's like a coach on the field.  I just like Brady better.  Brady also has a drive to be the best QB that will ever play football.  Until last year Brady wasn't putting up huge numbers like Manning and now we've seen he can be flashy and explosive.  I've just always felt a little bit safer with Brady.  I felt like his best attribute wasn't the numbers.  It was his ability to be in control.

He needs to do more in pressure situations to wrestle that crown from Tom Brady.

I voted other.

I still don't believe Manning OR Brady deserve that title.  They are both excellent, and will most likely end up well inside the top ten of all time, but they both still have alot of games to play.

I was putting together a post detailing how poorly Manning has played in the post season, when compared to his regular season numbers, and I had Brady's regular and post season numbers.  I may still post it, but using completion percentage, TD%, and interception%, they really are not very different quarterbacks.  Manning is only a little worse post season versus regular season, but Brady certainly doesn't jump up and improve during post season, at best you could say he remains consistant.

I might still post it if I can finish it up.

Mannings quote after one of the Colts numerous home playoff losses which reminds me why I hate him so much..

“"I’m trying to be a good teammate here. Let’s just say we had some problems with protection."

If Peyton Manning is the King of QB's then Tom Brady is the Queen, and Matt Leinert is the court Jester.

He's good...but

The problem is name recognition. I don't think enough folks outside of Indy even know who he is. Maybe he could get his agent to line up some commercials or something?

There is the link.    The article to me was refering to player longevity and retirement.  How Manning hasn't been sacked alot and stuff like that.  I just think the OP should have said what they ment by KIng of QBs.

As a Colts fan and Manning supporter, that was well said Dopetrip.

I forgot which former QBs (a slightly more trustable source than the Indianapolis Star :P) have called Tom Brady the greatest they've ever seen (the list is quite long), but honestly, this won't be decided while they are playing.

It may not be decided when they retire. Brady is 2 years younger than Peyton. Both are likely to play until they are ancient. Both will probably eclipse Brett Favre's numbers (no offense but if you've seen them play - and play a lot they do - it's just a matter of when and not if.).

I might see something that will change my opinion, but both are FAR beyond their competition currently. The question isn't who is #1 and #2, but who's #3. We know one of them is Peyton Manning and we know the other is Tom Brady. Who's behind them? It seems to change yearly.
