Rosie
by Jackson Browne
She was standing at the load-in when the trucks rolled up
She was sniffing all around like a half-grown female pup
She wasn't hard to talk to, looked like she had nowhere to go
So I gave her a pass so she could get in to see the show.
I sat her down right next to me and I got her a beer
While I mixed that sound on the stage so the band could hear
The more I watched her watch me play, the less I thought of to say
And when they walked offstage the drummer swept that girl away.
Chorus:
Rosie, you're all right, you wear my ring
When you hold me tight, Rosie, that's my thing
When you turn out the light I got to hand it to me
Looks like it's me and you again tonight, Rosie.
Well, I guess I might have known from the start she'd come for a star
But I told my imagination not to run too far
Of all the times that I've been burned, by now you'd think I'd learn
That it's who you look like, not who you are.

Shame they are behind 3 -2
-Who's on the mound for them tonight, Yank, out of curiosity?
-Funny how that reviewer gave The Pretender such a back hander, hey Rock? I think it's a very good album, personally...

-Pretty much ace vs. ace- sounds like a good game. From the sound of things, it will soon be down to bullpen vs. bullpen...
-Ok, my last one for the evening, folks, another homage to my old home's sea-faring heritage-

Stan Rogers Rolling Down To Old Maui (sung live, acapella)
-From Wikipedia-
Rolling Down to Old Maui (Roud 2005 )is a traditional sea shanty which has been performed and recorded by many folksingers, including Stan Rogers. The song expresses the anticipation of the crew of a whaling vessel on its return to Maui after a season of whaling in the Kamchatka Sea.
The song's earliest known appearance in its current form was in Joanna Colcord's Songs of American Sailormen (1938), without a tune. However, the song is clearly related to the song Rolling Down to Old Mohee, collected from the 1858 log of the Atkins Adams.
Lyrics
<pre> It's a damn tough life full of toil and strife
We whalermen undergo.
And we don't give a damn when the day is done
How hard the winds did blow.
For we're homeward bound from the Arctic ground
With a good ship, taut and free
And we don't give a damn when we drink our rum
With the girls of Old Maui.
(chorus)
Rolling down to Old Maui, me boys
Rolling down to Old Maui
We're homeward bound from the Arctic ground
Rolling down to Old Maui.
Once more we sail with a northerly gale
Through the ice and wind and rain.
Them native maids, them tropical glades,
We soon shall see again.
Six hellish months have passed away
On the cold Kamchatka Sea,
But now we're bound from the Arctic ground
Rolling down to Old Maui.
chorus
Once more we sail with a northerly gale
Towards our island home.
Our mainmast sprung, our whaling done,
And we ain't go far to roam.
Our stuns'l boom is carried away
What care we for that sound?
A living gale is after us,
Thank God we're homeward bound.
chorus
How soft the breeze through the island trees,
Now the ice is far astern.
Them native maids, them tropical glades
Is a-waiting our return.
Even now their soft brown eyes look out
Hoping some fine day to see
Our baggy sails runnin' 'fore the gales
Rolling down to old Maui.
chorus
