Apparently the Giants are thinking of life without Michael Strahan, Strahan reportedly may consider playing if management doubles his 2008 salary to 8 million for the season. The Giants have a visitor coming to town from New Orleans in DE Reynaldo Wynn.

Perhaps that 8 million dollar request will not be met and the Giants may be looking toward life without Strahan. Personally 8 million dollars is a high price to pay for one year of service, especially to one who has agreed to a contract thats about over, as well as a career.

Come on Strahan, plat for the love of the game one more time, don't make the fans pay for your off the field financial problems.

Interesting Info.   Strahan should play one more year and under his current contract.  Even in a lesser role, he can still be of great value to the team.  OK, Stray....think about doing the greatest good for the greatest number and your decision should be E-Z.  There was a very even exchange last season between what you imparted to the Giants and what the Giants imparted to you.

Renaldo Wynn has previous experience with Coach Tom Coughlin and would add veteran depth to our defensive line. Michael Strahan needs the money with his divorce last year. If the team will not have to take a salary cap hit. Give him what he is asking for. If they do not want Strahan back at his asking price. Let him retire and go after Jason Taylor who would cost them at worst case a second round draft choice. In this defense he can thrive and put up similar if not better numbers then Strahan. He can become the new face of the franchise for the remaining two years of his career and if he decides to play longer.

if 1 of our most well known players who has never done us wrong  and lived and died on the field for us  needs a little more money from us  we should by all means help him out

buuuttttt  if we cannot afford it  we should be willing to let him get traded 2 another team with promise of a bigger contract from that team...I think us Giants fans at that point shuldnt get mad at any1 for that either ...

he might have 1 year left in him   but who says he wants to play that 1 year?..maybe hes really tired  hes got everythng he wants now..and hes 1 of the best to ever play on this team and just at that position   we should show him some respect if he wants to finish with some money 2 ..its not like its all he played for  but its the last thing left  that he doesnt really have ( not like hes poor but his ex wife just raped him)

hopefully we can keep him ...if not goodluck to mike

Strahan has come out and said he is very close to a decision but doesn't want to say anything until he is positive. I don't think money is as big of a factor as everyone thinks it is...but money does talk. He can make money doing other things. He'll likely jump right onto TV as an analyst of some sort, and continue showing up in numerous commercials and such. But if the Giants offer Michael Strahan 8 million it would be hard for him to say no. He's said several times he loves the money...call it greed if you want, but all of them play for the money to some extent when it comes right down to it. I think they will meet half way at 6 or 6.5...but I don't know if that will be relevant to Mike's decision.

I personally don't think he will be back, and if he isn't, signing Renaldo Wynn would be a good move to add veteran depth at the spot. I hope Strahan comes back for 6 million or so, but I don't think it's in the cards.

If it's not about the money, it's about his love of the game. His will to play another grueling season because he loves playing. If his answer is he will retire because he doesn't have the love for the game anymore, trying to throw more money at him to get him to change his mind is a mistake. If he actually goes for the money, how effective would he be? We'd be better off with Reynaldo Wynn or someone else who loves the game.

I hope he has another year in him, to get us to next years draft where we can grab a DE to replace his talent. If he retires, we'll probably move Kiwanuka back to the line which hurts our linebackers a bit. I'm not convinced our two draft choices will make the team, but I think Kehl would over Goff.

Here's the problem with giving into Strahan's demand: it creates a domino effect.

Osi wants to get paid and will surely make life miserable for Reece if Strahan (history or not) gets his hand-out.  Then Plax and yes Chokey will reiterate his disgust for everything.

They've already done so with the coaching staff, kicker, Justin Tuck, and offensive tackle.

It's a slippery slope and a position I don't envy Reece for being in.

Does this have anything to do with the Shockey trade?
