it happened 2 times 33 years apart. And unless Cous brought it up 2 months ago they  have been talking about it for awhile on VS and NHL network coverage.

Oh and unless The Flyers do it . It wont happen to Detroit.

And PS it wont happen to the Penguins  either

In 1942, the Toronto Maple Leafs stumbled to be down 3-0 in a series against the Detroit Red Wings.  The Leafs stormed back to win the Stanley Cup Finals in a 4-3 series win against Detroit.  The Maple Leafs had home ice advantage and played games 5 and 7 at home.  This was also the Stanley Cup Finals

33 years later, the New York Islanders fell back 3-0 in a series against the Pittsburgh Pengins.  They stormed back to win the series 4-3 against my beloved Pittsburgh Penguins.  The Islanders had a tougher road, however, having games 5 and 7 on the road, but did manage to come back.  This was in this second round

Now it is 33 years later, and the 2 teams to ever blow a 3-0 lead both had 3-0 leads, and lost game 4.  I do not see the 33 year trend continue, but if it does, it looks like it is Detroit's turn again.  Then in 33 years, year 2041 i believe, and if Detroit blows the lead this year, the Penguins will probably blow a 3-0 lead, and they will alternate who blows a lead every 33 years.

LETS GO PENS!

Damn you alfred

pitt- 1942 was pre- Mr. Hockey so I'm not putting much stock in those dried up Leafs beating us then.

We got the Stars so outmatched with the vastly more shots on goal we get on Turco and our incredible face-off win % over the Stars. The Stars have been playing with great heart and many of those players deserve big raises when it comes time to negotiate new contracts after the way they have played in this years playoffs. 1942 Wings team, hmmmm:

Not like today where most of the team is from across the pond. Two Brits on that team!

We lost to Toronto in the Stanley Cup final.
