Wow.  How is it that everyone is thinking the West/Allen play should have been a goal-tending? The announcers in game and post game blew it, and now more people are blowing it here. Go back and watch the replay- the ball hits the side of the board and is rebounding AWAY from the hoop, which makes it ENTIRELY legal to bat. Please don't take my word for it - watch the replay.  The rule as written CLEARLY (and exactly) states that "for goaltending to occur, the ball, in the judgment of the official, must have a chance to score."
Last time I checked, a ball that it already bouncing off the side of the board in an opposite direction from the basket does not have a "chance to score."  Again, don't trust me....watch the replay again, and read the rulebook. Argue about the other calls if you wish, but this one, shockingly- was one the refs had exactly right.

Here's the link to goaltending in the NBA rulebook.

http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_11.html?nav=ArticleList

Note that in section C, it states that the referee must think that the ball has a chance to go in the basket. The ball hit the padding on the side of the backboard and had no chance to go in the basket.

Anyone who is sane and watches the game knows that Lebron recieves preferential treatment. You cannot breath on him without a foul being called. Also, he is 6-8 250. Think he hits the floor a little easy for a guy that size? He's a product of his environment. He's been babied his whole life and the NBA has decided to continue it. Someone tell me with a straight face that if Delonte or Wally had been guarding Pierce on that atrocious offense foul call that it would have been called the same way. Not only this, but he complains the most out of anyone on the court about foul calls. Tomorrow ESPN and TNT will rave about his play and disregard that questionable calls because everyone just loves good old Lebron. Yeah scored scored 32, because he went to the line 15 times. That's two more times than the entire Celtics team went to the line. Yes they didn't go to the basket as much, but there were plays they got fouled going up for shots that weren't called. Also Lebron had 8 TO's in the game. EIGHT=AWFUL. Most guys would get benched for that coupled with his sub 40% shooting in that game. Get over this guy, he's not better than Kobe or even KG. He is a school boy b**ch. The league owns him and he is a willing obedient. I'm not saying this is the reason the Celtics lost, because there were many reasons much of them their fault, but it doesn't help their case. Don't be surprised to see more of the preferential treatment Sunday because Lebron's buddy David Stern would love to see him in the Finals.

Hope the Celts find it and push past this and beat the lowly Cavs.

Sometimes ESPN can baby James but during the game the announcers can slam him.  First game of the series one of the announcers was refering to a LeBron flop play and mentioned that every time he does something like that he should receive a technical.  At least some of the media sees it too.

Shows how much you know about the team Edwach. Anyone who knows Rondo knows he's in line to be a top 10 point guard. He's only 22 and has show rapid improvement. The kid  shouldn't be relied on to score when you have three all star caliber players (allen obviously isn't playing like one). He's a better point guard than anyone on the Cavs. He obviously isn't ready to be consistent in the playoffs. Someone else will have to step up. Oh and when you refute what I stated, back it up.... with anything. Thank you.

a little on the harsh side don't you think? besides, "clueless season" doesn't make sense. If you like the Cavs/hate the C's thats fine, but you may be going a little overboard

All I know is that down the stretch, there were two obvious horrible calls.

One, the charge on Paul Pierce was a terrible call. First off, Lebron was reaching in, and that is what created the contact. Lebron's feet were moving and he was not even fully in front of Pierce. Awful call.

Two, the foul on Ray Allen should've been a 3-point play. The ball went off the backboard before Delonte West blocked it, an obvious goaltending call.

Both of these calls could have changed the outcome of the game. But that being said, I was going for the Cavs and they outplayed the Celtics overall, so nice win Cavs fans.

I agree they even showed it in slow motion and the announcers said that the refs missed it. Its all good the Celtics will win game 7 at home.

Lebron gets "fouled" everytime he goes to the basket. Sometimes they do foul him sometimes he lets his legs fall out.

Get back to me with the breakaway fouls stat. pretty sure no one keeps that but make a point after stating it.

pj brown a hitman? maybe back when he was playing the Knicks not now. big baby a hitman? get real show me a hard foul he ma
