But, I don't believe Leaf would've choked on the big one against the Colts had he played.

There's no way you are actually being serious about this...even for a Lions fan, that statement is a bit outrageous if you were being literal.  If you were being serious, its a bit ironic coming from a Kitna supporter to discuss choking in the playoffs.  How many Super Bowls has Kitna been to again?  And how has he done in the playoff games he's started?

And yet Kitna is still putting the numbers(even INT's and Sacks) without an offensive line, running game to speak of and the verdict is still out on the Lions defense, something the Bears, Packers and Vikings all have. Besides, your not getting anywhere with Grossman as your ammo, thats like loading a gun with blanks.

The Lions rushed for a total of 42 less yards in 2007 and had a higher average per carry than the Bears did, so I don't know where you're getting the whole "without a running game to speak of" comment...plus if you ask any Lions fan on this board they will be happy to tell you that the Lions have better running backs than the Bears have.

The fact that they don't have a defense actually works against your theory.  Since more points are scored against the Lions, they are required to throw more, hence the exaggerated yards in Kitna's stat line.

Also, I noticed that you didn't address the huge discrepancy between the receivers that Kitna has to work with vs. the junk that Grossman has to throw too.

Again, don't get the idea that I think Grossman is a good qb...he's junk.  But in that junk pile with T-Jack and Grossman, belongs Kitna too (jury is still out on Rodgers).  At least Grossman and T-Jack have one thing on their side that Kitna does not...age!  Kitna will only get worse, while Grossman and T-Jack at least have an opportunity to get better as they mature.

DaBearsBullsSox- Haha you're defending Grossman, haha no but really, it's funny.

We don't think that Jon Kitna is God, most Lions fans don't at least. But he is the best QB in the NFC north, somehow someway....

2006 when you compared Kitna and Grossman stats, don't you think it's a little funny that you never truly highlighted that Kitna took 2/3 more sacks than Grossman. Which is 40 MORE!!!!! Give Kitna time and he'll be more successful. The fact that Grossman wasn't hurried as much and still only produced Kitna like stats is quite sickening too.

Kitna may be the Best QB in the North but that doesn't mean he's a great QB, Ask any Lions fan!! We only want him to be a successful stopgap until we can find a suitable successor(Stanton). The Bears are doing the same with Rex, EXCEPT they haven't tried to find a successor????HELLO????? That's the point alot of people are trying to show but  not making clear!!!!

Rex is not the future of the Bears. Kitna is not the future of the Lions. If you only had to keep 1 of them for 1-2 seasons, which would you choose????

"With the first pick in the2009 draft, the Chicago Bears select Tim Tebow, QB, Florida."

Just thought I'd give Bears fans something to look forward to after the losses amass in 08'.

although the Bears have a bad offense they'll not be at the bottom of the division - it'll be Detroit.. Chicago will still manage to win games  ( due to there defense which has carried this team forever ) ....and end up toward the top of the weak NFC North...Green Bay wil win the divsion ( i know you'll all call this a "homer pick ) but they return there offense ( all except Favre )  And also will have a decent defense-- if Rodgers does terrible they'll sink faster than the titanic but i dont think he'll do bad   ( mabey have an average first season )  and they'll win 10-11 games -- Chicago and Minnesota will fight for secont and third place --- it'll be a toss up ..and Detroit will continue to stay in the cellar .

Grossman will struggle and since they possibly dont make it to the playoffs ...or do and quicky sink fast...... like Bal.25% hinted .......they'll draft a QB and begin to start over AGAIN!

Respectno4- The problem is that you didn't post any sort of facts or details explaining why you think so. Just being a Homer doesn't cut it on this board!

Detroit will be better than Chicago this year BECAUSE....Kitna finally has an O-line and system that will help us be more successful. If the Lions would've even tried to run the ball last year, they would've won 1-2 more games easily. Also Detroit shored up the weakest part of their defense....The secondary. Lions look to be in better shape than the Bears. I mean come on....The Lions were better than the Bears last year and the Bears kept the same QB, at least the Lions tried to improve! GB will not win the division, The Vikings will. Pack and Lions will battle it out for 2nd place! Bears come in last with Rex leading the team...or whoever the Bears decide to start.

As much as I hate the Vikings, they SHOULD win the division this year. The only way they don't is IF Aaron Rodgers steps in and pruduces HEAVILY. Yes, our beloved Lions are still improving, but they need to show they won't break down halfway through the year. I would love to say that we are going to win the division, but realistically, we should come in 3rd:
1 - Vikings
2 - Packers
3 - Lions
4 - Bears

That is how I see it. This Lions v. Bears argument is for who WON'T finish in last place.

Again, I would love to see the Lions win 10 games this year and I think they have a shot, but with the way we crumbled last season after a stellar start, I'm being very realistic in my guess of how things will end up. Even if we do have a different offensive scheme and upgraded line, we still need to prove it on the field.

Go Lions!

Rex is not the future of the Bears. Kitna is not the future of the Lions. If you only had to keep 1 of them for 1-2 seasons, which would you choose????

Fact is that neither team has a reasonable future quarterback.  Every one one the Detroit side keeps talking about Stanton, but what do you really know about him that would show you that he's going to be a good starter in the NFL....  Both teams are in the same place as far as quarterbacks are concerned.  Personally, I think we have a better chance of winning with Orton than I do with Grossman at this point.  If you ask me to pick between Orton and Kitna right now at this point in their careers, I choose Orton.

Also, how many of the 63 times that Kitna was sacked was because he held onto the ball waaaaayyyyy too long??  You can't blame all of that on the bad offensive line.  And the fact that you have way better receivers than the bears do gives Kitna an advantage that none of you Lions fans seem to want to recognize.
