Finally Izzy is going to be placed on the DL or sent to the minors. He has single handedly put this team into a funk. I hope the Cardinals bring up Perez.

I hope your right madmike, he is totally killing the moral of this club. I think at this point you can't even keep him on the roster, he needs to go to the minors to work thru this funk. He is at by far the worst point in his career, I hope he can pull it together.

Let's not be so quick to send Izzy packing.  My hunch is that he just has a dead arm from making so many appearances in April.  If I'm right, with about three weeks rest, he should re-emerge as one of the better closers in the N.L.

M-A-R-S,

I agree with you. I'm not going to send Izzy packing either. Guys, the problem isn't Izzy. It's LaRussa. Tony keeps relying on Izzy multiple times per week and at his stage in Izzy's career, the Cards can ill afford to do that. I know that Tony and Duncan want to see Izzy achieve career save #300. And so us Cards fans. But not to the extent that it might aggrivate Izzy's bum hip or like MARS said, give Izzy a dead arm.

It's no secret that Izzy doesn't have much left in the tank and for what he does have left, the Cards need to be a lot more conservative than what they have been to this point. Izzy isn't all washed up. He just has a dead arm caused by overworkage and a few weeks of r&r (DL time) followed by a rehab stint in the minors and he will be back to being one of the best closers in the NL.

Patience guys. And keep the faith alive in Izzy and he will return the favor. Just wait and see.

Go Izzy and Go Cards!!!!     68

I love Izzy, but I definitely expect the Cards to put him on the DL in the next week, if not this weekend. He is just really off and he needs to just get some rest and get his confidence back.

I'm at a loss as what to do. I think Izzy is a class act and really feel for the guy. Izzy has done great things for the Cardinals organization and the metropolatan St. Louis area. I also think that he is causing a great damage to the team right now. Since the bullpen is scarce right now, I think mop up duty is out of the question. I also think that sending an established veteran like Izzy outright to AAA could do more harm than good. Even though the problem is not physical, I would put him on the DL and call up Chris Perez who could platoon with Ryan Franklin as the closer. This way, Izzy can get about 3-4 weeks of rest and Perez can get some experience.

Well, they did it. Izzy on the DL and Perez in the bigs finally. I was just reading on the stltoday site that Izzy has had a hand injury since last Friday because he hit a TV in the club house several times with his hand. They were just saying the other day that he had no injury. If they knew he had injured his hand what were they doing sending him out there to pitch? I don't get it!!!!! I am really looking forward to Perez blowing some fastballs by some hitters!!! Go Cards

I AM A CUB FAN NOT A CARDINAL BASHER....BUT YOU ALL NEED TO QUIT GRIPING ABOUT YOUR PLAYERS AND TELL YOUR ANNOUNCER AL HRABOSKY TO SHUT HIS PIEHOLE ONCE IN A WHILE...
LAST YEAR B4 A ROADTRIP HE SAID THE Cardinals WERE GOING TO SWEEP THE Pirates AND THE Nationals ( YOU LOST 5 OF 6)
HE SAID BE A SERIES AGAINST ARIZONA WHEN THE CARDINALS WIN THEY ARE GOING TO BE IN FIRST ( THEY GOT SWEPT AND FELL APART)
HE SAID EARLIER THIS YEAR AFTER Kerry Wood BLEW A SAVE... THE MAIN DIFFRENCE BETWEEN THE Cubs AND THE CARDINALS IS THE CUBS ARE GOING WITH AN UNPROVEN CLOSER WHILE THE CARDS HAVE Jason Isringhausen KERRY IS 8 FOR 11 HOW IS IZZY
