thanks to all who helped make this a hopping thread all day. i have enjoyed the discussion and the debate. i hope all of you enjoyed it as well.

tonight i see the Hornets winning in San Anotonio as i just don't think the Spurs have the wheels or the heart to stop them this year.

i guess i missed on that one.. i hope David West can recover in time to play game 7. Robert Horry was dead wrong to set that blind pick in the first place and this was much more dangerous than his hip check on Steve Nash in last years Suns Spurs series. At least Steve saw it coming... and people really think the guy should be in the hall?? wow give you heads a shake please.

the Lakers will win the next game and the Lakers Hornets series should be great. i am also looking forward to watching the Cavaliers Celtics game 6 and i think the Celt's will finally win the road game so coveted by so many posters up here. The ECF of the Celts and the Pistons should be an instant classic

have a great night all, enjoy the game

can someone please try to explain with valid reasoning WHY everyone thinks the Celtics NEED a road win?

they won the most regular season games to have HOME court advantage through the finals. you want home court advantage so you DON'T HAVE to win on the road. other than the Jazz, the Celtics are nearly unbeatable on the home court.

i have heard the talking heads say that GREAT teams win on the road in the playoffs. well, i disagree. i think teams that HAVE to win on the road to advance win on the road. the Celtics don't have that need. The Pistons needed to win on the road against a pesky Magic team to show themselves and their fans that they have the inner strength to win on the road. they did so to prepare to go into Boston with at least a hope of winning. That is one series where the road win has to happen, but it's not the C's that need the win, but the Pistons.

here are some other random thoughts as well...

a beautiful day here, and a good night for Celtics fans as Glen Davis and Rajon Rondo step up big time and show the Cavaliers fans that they have a good bench in Boston. LeBron was a beast and Delonte West hits 21 while Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Rondo all go for over 20 ... i knew 3 guys would score for the Celts, just thought Ray Allen would be the third, but 11 is better than he has been.

In San Antonio, this team is very hard to beat. i think Manu Ginobili will have to be the game breaker again. he will need to hit 25 or more to take the pressure off Tim Duncan and Kurt Thomas inside for the Spurs, while David West will have to be stopped.. right now, no one is stepping up as Chris Paul and Tyson Chandler seem to have their way in the paint. i think Peja Stojakovic will hit 25 tonight as the Spurs collapse on West and Chandler. as for the score, i hate to say it, but 105 - 100 for the Hornets... just my thoughts

please, i understand homerism, but could we keep the replies to valid reasons that the Celtics need to win on the road. thanks, and enjoy the games

i want to take the time to thank all those who took the time to read as well as those who both read and responded to this simple question. it sparked quite a debate and it has been near the top of the board for a day now, and i am grateful for the input.

i still don't think i received a good reason why the Celtics HAVE to win a road game to win the title, but i appreciate all the input i did get.

thanks again and play ball

the nba, where 12 road losses can win the title!

whats up takman?

i like the Hornets tonight over the Spurs as this team seeks to define itself as a contender.

You didn't think I forgot did you ;)

Agreed x2 ;) Not tonight though. They will have to win on their home floor I think. Spurs are not going to die at home.

i knew you would be back!! so i made sure to post my defeat as early as i could.

i think now that the Spurs will win after Robert Horry layed a beat on David West and put him out. Tim Duncan had been having fits with him and showing him up so they sent their main thug out to deal with him, just like last year when Steve Nash was embarassing Tony Parker. the question becomes now can Chris Paul, Morris Peterson, Peja Stojakovic and Tyson Chandler carry the game 4 on 5. i don't think they can, but then the Hornets have surprised us all most of the season and it is a home game.

like the thread says, all you have to do is win at home!

tonight we shall see if the Celtics have the will to beat the Cavaliers in Cleveland. i am looking forward to game 7!! as are the Pistons!

hey takman,

Don't switch up on me now. lol

The Hornets WILL take game 7, and they will win by 10 or more again.

The Celtics WILL beat the Cavaliers in Cleveland tonight (GET OFF MONKEY)

The Lakers will  ... I don't want to jinx myself.

i know i said that the Hornets would win, but if forgot to include the THUG Big Shot Bob in the mix for game 6.

i think now that the Spurs will win after Robert Horry layed a beat on David West and put him out. Tim Duncan had been having fits with him and showing him up so they sent their main thug out to deal with him, just like last year when Steve Nash was embarassing Tony Parker. the question becomes now can Chris Paul, Morris Peterson, Peja Stojakovic and Tyson Chandler carry the game 4 on 5. i don't think they can, but then the Hornets have surprised us all most of the season and it is a home game.

as much as i want the Hornets to win, i can't help but doubt they can without West.

so, the Lakers and the Spurs will play and the Lakers will win in 7 to face the road winless Celtics who win all 4 home games as well as game 7 agains the Cavaliers on sunday. As much as i want them to win tonight, i think they have a great shot with Daniel Gibson gone, but my gut tells me that Wally Szczerbiak will pop off for 25+ tonight. let's hope Ray Allen finds his stroke and then puts the Cavs away early.

enjoy the games
