Nice to see the Brewers lock up what seems to be their best all around player in Ryan Braun. I have had the luxury of watching this guy when he was a University of Miami Hurrican and now as a member of the Brew Crew when he faced my Marlins. He is a great kid and obviously a solid player.

You guys have a solid squad out there and I hope everything comes together for you guys and maybe we can meet in the postseason.

Agreed, nice move, this is making our division a lot tougher, but you'll be getting no well wishes from this Astros fan. I do hope his career continues the way it's started, he's fun to watch when he's he's playing the Cards and Cubs

What is it though with these teams signing these players before they are even close to going through the arbitration system?  Tulo and now Braun.  You think they would try to save some money for 1-2 years before doing deals like these.

I do agree with you Astromanic, as an astro fan too, I bummed to see any team in the Central division lock somone up this long with this kind of talent.

Being the first Brewer fan to post in this thread, let me thank you guys for the congratulations! :)  I'm very happy to see that we got Braun, who I feel is our best player, locked up for such a long time!  In the day of HUGE contracts, I'm not too upset that we are giving him this kind of contract because I feel that by the time the last few years hit, he'll be one of the top players in the league!

Let's go Crew!!

It really is a good deal for both sides.  Moreso for the Brewers, obviously, but for Braun, it isn't as bad as it would seem.  He is getting overpaid now, technically, based on his experience and age.  By the end of the contract, he will more than likely be getting underpaid.  But, if something happens, an injury for example, that greatly reduces his worth, it's money in the bank.

Also, he'll be, what, 31 or 32 when the contract expires?  That gives him an opportunity to play for another 5 years or so for an obscene amount of cash, if he turns out like the Brewers are hoping.
