The Yankees at 20 - 22 and a $210 million payroll or the Tigers at 16 -25 and a $138 million payroll.

Boy, this is a tough one, but I'll take the Tigers simply they have shown less signs of life up to this point.

How about a write in vote?

The Seattle Mariners with a 116 million dollar payroll at 16-26 and have not looked real good.

Or the Mets who are 20-19 with a 140 million dollar payroll.

Good point about the M's...a worse record than the Tigers and the Yanks and farthest behind their closest competitors.  While the Mets are doing very disappointing for the size of their payroll, at least they are above 500 and only 2 1/2 games back.  Those M's have really been pathetic, haven't they?

It would have to be the Tigers first. Yankee's have been hit by major injuries as well as trying to bring up some young homegrown pitchers. Hasn't worked out yet but you can understand why they are losing. Tigers do not have an excuse.

The Met's are right up there. Good old Willie has them playing with no heart at all.

24-17 with under a 44 million dollar pay roll.  Guess who??  Highest paid player happens to be making 6 million.  They have 12 players making 800k or less this year.  The team is just clicking.  Talk about worst for the money would be the Yankees, they have the second highest ERA in the league, and are just getting their 30 million dollar man back.  Literally paid him about 3.5 million to take 2 weeks off.

And when they get their 30 million dollar man back, it won't improve their ERA much.

I'd have to say yhe Yankee's because of the fact that they have been doing it for a couple years now. The Tigers are new at wasting money. With that being said, you really can't fault any team for their payroll. You can have all the best players in the world on one team but that doesn't mean your going to have the best team. Any time you sign a guy for big money, it's a roll of the dice.

SrV- A bit confused about the doing it for a couple of years. Did I miss something or did they miss the playoffs last year. And almost even caught the Sox. Right now the Yankee's do suck but the point I made about it has been missed. They have sucked with AROD and Posada(The real Captain) out as well as taking a chance for a change with some kids. If those kid pitchers start to improve and the Yanks get Arod and Posada back then they will end up right back in the race. A team like the Tigers who on the most part have been healthy(Granderson, the exception) have no excuse.

Met's have had injuries but even their stars don't seem to have any heart except for Wright and Church.
