I always knew Sammy was a doushe. Making a gold stop sign around his neck the year he went 30-30. The only times he was a good player was when the team was making a run for it. 98/03. The rest of the time he was a head case. But, most fans loved his anticts. If we could deal with that pre-madona for god many year then a few months of edmonds is a walk in the park.

Enjoy your high horse. Me thinks Cubs2008 doesn't like me.

You know Jazzman, despite what you think I actually respect and value you opinion.  I think more than anything I was just venting about the people who "like this pickup".  I hate this pickup but will have to learn to live with it.  I guess I just hope for what you suggested earlier that if he doesn't perform he could be out before Sepember.  Also, just because we have differing opinions doesn't mean I don't enjoy sharing them.  If we all had the same opinion then it wouldn't be much fun sharing them.  I think I am just a little bit cut throat when it comes to sports.

My question to you Jazzman is have you ever been to Busch for a Cubs vs. Cardinals game?  I personaly have been to many games there and have gone through the "in your face crap" that their "knowledgeable and respectful fans" hand out.  Also, I think living in central Illinois where it is a 50/50 split of fans also makes me a little more hard core as well.

cubs2008: This is an idiotic thread and you're wrapped up in a knuckleheaded position with this rivalry BS. But I had to give you 5 stars anyway since it has so far generated 3 pages of responses and even the village idiot needs a place to vent.

I grew up sort of hating Mike Schmidt for the damage he did to the Cubs, particularly at Wrigley.

Would I have wanted him in a Cubs uni? Damn straight.

How did Philly respond to the Cubs perennial overtures for his services? Yeah, right, in yo dreams.

"....have you ever been to Busch for a Cubs vs. Cardinals game?"

One day, I hope to experience a Cubs vs. Cardinals game in Busch stadium.  Hopefully, it'll work out next year.

Sorry frantic.  I just saw this as a Johnny Damon to the Yankees situation.  The only difference to me is that we aren't as cut throat as Yankee fans.

Until he became a cancer in the clubhouse, according to the Sun-Times.

Even though it's beside the point and not an avenue I want to go down with you, it's really kind of bizarre what has happened to Cards fans over the past 10 years or so. I'd been to many games throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and each was enjoyable with good-humored smack talk, knowledgeable fans for the most part, and friendly people.

My last trip there, I almost felt embarrassed to be a baseball fan. And I don't know what accounts for the change...maybe it's the beechwood aging.

Nevertheless, personalities, pasts, futures, rivalries -- all of it -- doesn't amount to a hill of beans with me if we bring home a ring in October. With or without Edmunds.
