Arrogance: an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions. ------Websters Dictionary.
Don't you have to win the championship to be deemed superior, that is our point.
1. Johnny Unitas is the best Quarterback ever, anyone +/- 50 years old can tell you that.
2. The Green Bay Packers are the real dynasty to measure anything by.
3. Vince Lombardi is the best coach to ever step onto a field, anytime, any sport.
I am a Steeler fan from before any Superbowl wins. Notice how Chuck Noll, Terry Bradshaw, and the Steelers were not mentioned in my best of all time. Because they are not, someone is or was better in my lifetime. But when you are +/-25 years old or less, then you think you have seen it all, but really you don't know sh!t about anything yet, you just think you do. Most Pats fans around my age are sensible and respectful, but they are being pushed into the minority by all the chest-beating little d-bags who jumped on the wagon around 2001. I feel for the older Pat fans who have to apologize to the homer idiots who cannot see anything other than their own team's success. Loyalty is one thing, but blindness is a disease.

I resent your comment about younger fans.
I am a younger fan under 25, and I pride myself on my knowledge of the historical aspects of the game. So what if I wasn't there to see Unitas and Bart Starr. I still know about them and respect their contributions to the game. I eat, sleep, and breathe football all day every day. So just because you're older and have seen more, it doesn't mean you know the game better.
Am I allowed to disagree with your assessment that Johnny U was the best QB ever? I personally feel it's Dan Marino, and I can list the reasons why.
Am I allowed to disagree about the Packers dynasty, consdering the level of competition they faced back in those days wasn't nearly as high as the 49ers of the 1980's?
Maybe some of you old-school guys need to get off your high horses and listen to some of the younger fans. We listen to you enough, maybe we have something to offer to football discussion too.
Other than that, we agree for the most part.

Bermy,
It's not a high horse, it's called age and wisdom, something your generation forgot about. I listen to my mom and her friends, they are in their 70's, they have know more than me and have seen more than me, that is the point. We went out in the lot and played football after high school, Fantasy Football is exactly as stated. Sorry but I see more of that activity than people going outdoors and actually playing the game itself.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but when you have only seen half as much as someone twice your age, your opinion is based on half the picture. Not all younger fans are like you, be happy you are historically informed. I never comment on George Halas because he was before my time. When someone says Bellichick is the best ever, and never saw the Packers of the 60's dominate, then their opinion just does not hold water for me. But when someone mentions seeing Chuck Bednarik play, I listen.
No Malice towards you my friend. Your opinions are welcome, disagreeing is part of life. Let me ask you this though, when you need real advice, don't you go to your dad and not your friends, just a thought.

Arrogance: an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions. ------Websters Dictionary.
Don't you have to win the championship to be deemed superior, that is our point.
this is a definition from a dictionary yet u're trying to downgrade it ... maybe because u're older and smarter than the websters dictionary ? lol
So when i say that my Saints are superior to the Falcons am i incorrect ?
1. Johnny Unitas is the best Quarterback ever, anyone +/- 50 years old can tell you that.
actually there is many +/- 50 years old Sports Experts that never stated Johnny Unitas as the best QB ever, did u mean anyone +/- 50 years old that you hang with ?
2. The Green Bay Packers are the real dynasty to measure anything by.
care to explain ? or you're too old to make a case ?
But when you are +/-25 years old or less, then you think you have seen it all, but really you don't know sh!t about anything yet, you just think you do.
i agree we haven't seen it all , neither have u ... so i don't know how that make u more legit to make case than Us
Most Pats fans around my age are sensible and respectful, but they are being pushed into the minority by all the chest-beating little d-bags who jumped on the wagon around 2001. I feel for the older Pat fans who have to apologize to the homer idiots who cannot see anything other than their own team's success.
i'm sure u have your own experience on it but i don't think that if u were a fan since 2001that mean u're a bandwagon cause the pats haven't won a SB since 2004 shouldn't these fans already jump out the wagon?
Loyalty is one thing, but blindness is a disease.
so far that's the only i agree from you, but i'll add that poor judgment ( in this case based on age) is a vice.

I hear you Nybites
But what it comes across as to most of the younger generation is the condescending tone of being talked down to.
When it comes to the old days. I talk with my Dad about football, but my gramps never watched any. He was too busy working to care. But I get his advice on other things.
Fantasy Football is cool and all, but there ain't nothin like tossin the pigskin around on a field, or out in the street.
It's the guys who are kids right now, the teenagers right now, who have been too pampered by the electronic universe. My generation (guys in their 20's) still grew up outside playing sports.
I only wish I could have seem Lombardi do what he did back in the day. It would have probably been awesome. I still say the best RB to ever play was Jim Brown. That man dominated in a way that no RB since has, not even today's favorite LT. (although LT is close).
You seem very well informed on football subjects, and it's a good thing talkin to ya. Oh, and I love the avatar by the way.

I'm a Pats fan.
I found it hysterical though. For as many obnoxious Pats fans who aren't football fans and spew nonsense. There are twice as many morons who spend time writing stupid non fact based posts.
As much as some may hate to admit. Boston is a BIG sports city. It's not a bandwagon city by any means. Yes there are many College drop ins from all over the country and don a Red Sox or Pats hat because it's trendy, but that's not the base of the Boston Sports Culture.
Yes I do see how some fans have become arrogant, but we're fans we don't have to be humble. There are plenty of Boston fans out there that will talk sports, but we have spent 3 or 4 years defending the Patriots. And most recently 8 months over spygate. People hate winners so in a sense the same people that claim Pats fan or Boston fans to be arrogant created this.
Just like in Hockey the Wings are hated and what do Detroit fans do. Stick up for there team. Same with the Yankees. But the Patriots have exceeded all of that in large part due to the popularity of the NFL.
So as a Pats fan I'll talk football with you and it doesn't have to be about the Pats, but I will also defend my team when needed.

I have nothing against fans supporting their team through thick and thin. But the Pats fans seem to bash Steeler fans any time we try to say anything remotely good about our team. I just get sick of getting blasted for saying something good about my team from fans who support that so-called dynasty team (NOT) in New England. I am a diehard, bleeding black and gold Steeler fan and have been since the late 60s. I do not go out of my way to make fun of other teams' fans or their team (except maybe Cleveland because that is a rivalry) and resent being derided for saying good things about our quarterback. The media hype of the Pats is sickening because true fans want to hear about ALL TEAMS. BB and his flaunting of cheating in the league's face is a total disgrace to the game and he should be banned from football for life. Goodell's explanations of why no further sanctions will be levelled were wishy washy and lame. I would like to hear from more Pats fans that they are EMBARASSED by BB but they seem to want to defend him and treat him like he is a god or something. THAT is why I dislike a lot of the Pats fans on these boards.
