The high five took half a second. He was going to climb the wall to brace himself anyway.

Basketball players high five on their way down the court. NFL players literally jump into the stands in celebration.

The only knock on this play is that it was during the action, but if you really look at it, it was basically all done in one motion while he was at the top of the wall. The fan didn't even realize what Manny was doing, and by the time he did, Manny got rid of the ball.

People are making a bigger deal of it cuz it was Manny.

Let me interrupt just for a second to say the Okajima, as stated pre-season is dreadful and the Red Sox are heading in the wrong direction

Carry on

Are there extra points for our ratings to create such an idiotic thread as this - only to have it create "controversy" between the Sawks/Manny haters and Sawks/Manny fans? LMAO

Even as a Sawks fan, I was just grateful that Manny even caught the damn ball! His thinking (or lack thereof) to high five a fan as he stopped himself against the wall was more than just being Manny. Instead, I thought it was rather a cool thing for an astronomically paid athlete to interact with the fans like that. Too many players seem "above" the fans these days, so this goofy action didn't seem out of place at all to me.

Was it terribly different than a Lambeau Leap? Was it worse than a player tossing a ball into the stands after the inning is over or a guy tossing his batting gloves to a fan after his last at bat for the game? Maybe Kevin Garnett should be criticized for putting his arm around LeBron's mom to calm her down. At least Manny and the examples I just listed are good for game and not a negative like players (name any sport) cursing at or flipping off fans.

I say let them have fun, both the players and the fans.

Plays like this one are why sportscenter exists. Right on, Manny.

One time Ozzie Guillen made a catch behind his back at SS while I was at the game - it fixed my childhood.

You guys really are a bunch of grumpy old men aren't you...The guy is having fun, leave him alone. Nothing you say on this web site or any other is going to change what manny does.

See he's just having fun guys? Jeez. This isn't the NFL, No Fun League.

Without a doubt, the most quiet crowd for a Red Sox/Orioles game i've ever seen/heard...until that series of events.

As a yankee fan I didnt have a problem with it thought it was pretty funny actually. Leave him alone he still double off the guy at first so who gives a damn. Baseball really dont want people to have fun leave Manny alone even though I hate the sox  I did not have a problem with it at all.

My favorite "Manny being Manny" moment was the time when he cut off Johnny Damon throw in centerfield that was too funny they showed it last night on baseball tonight it had me cracking up.

What was you guys favorite Manny moment?
