I have finished watching his news conference and I learned a few new things out of it!..Most of you wanna say that he just wants to be in the public eye and that is why he is doing this, but you are all wrong.  How can any of you, as NFL fans,  be ok with what is STILL going on?  Did any of you watch this?  There might not be a tape of the walkthrough with the Rams but Walsh sure had a lot to say about it, does that mean tape "missing" or "destroyed"?  and there is an offensive player for the Patriots (name not released yet) who admitted to being involved in the meetings to make sure he could cheat properly.

HOW CAN ANYONE BE OK WITH THE FACT THAT THE PUNISHMENTS WERE HANDED OUT BEFORE ALL EVIDENCE WAS SHOWN.  AND WE STILL DONT KNOW WHAT THEY REALLY HAD OR DID!!

WHAT DO YOU GOTTA SAY ABOUT ALL THIS?

With all due respect SteelersChic, but the senators facts were selective. The commissioner said that Walsh said he was present with the rest of the crew setting up for the game, at the same time as the Rams. Also, another fact that slipped by Mr. Spector is that Walsh was decked out in his Patriots gear and noticed a couple minor things that he then relayed. He wasnt asked to do this and if he is there in all of his pats gear and the rams STILL went through with the walkthrough..... whos fault is that

I agre with you 100%! Anyone who disagrees with you must not have seen the conference themselves. Every bit of the information put out by both the Patriots and NFL has been full of ommitted information and there is very clearly something they want to keep covered up. I believe this is worse then the steroids scandal because the ethics in question are not those of individual players but of the Patriots organization. At their level they must adhere to high standards!  In almost any other industry there would have already been a government probe of some sort to question there behavior and practices. I believe there will be an investigation quickly, and I hope it's conducted as thourouhly as the Mitchell Investigation! I commend Senator Arlen.

I agree with you 100%  This was a cover up from the start.  They didn't find any Rams tape probably because Goodell destroyed all the evidence.  There is only one reason to destroy evidence and that's to cover up something.  He made his decision on punishment only after 12 days, that's not long enough to get all the facts.  The fact is, Goodell wanted this covered up because it would be devastating to the league if the truth really came out.  Imagine the lawsuits that would pile in from Rams players because of the bonus money they missed out on for winning the Super Bowl.  All the questions about what to do with the games they cheated in, or what to do with the Patriots organization, or even Belicheat.  It's so obvious this has been covered up, you have to be blind to not see that.  The punishment never fitted the crime, and its a shame that people can't see what is so obvious, and now watch how many Cheatriot fans jump all over this thread.  It's a shame that one of the tapes Walsh turned in wasn't a sex tape of Tom Brady, because all Patriot fans have been dying for some Tom Brady porn.

So instead of throwing around conspiracy theories with no factual basis (Goodell destroyed tapes, etc) and ignoring the obvious bias that Senator Asshat has against the Patriots, is there any evidence anywhere of wrong doing after the Patriots were caught videotaping? No? Didn't think so. So instead of dropping it, saying that Spygate is over, let the new season begin, you come up with unsubstatiated rumors and hypotheses to try and extend this already played out story.

I've posted this before, but I think it Bears repeating:

Let's look at this whole thing this way:

You coach an NFL team. Team A in your division has an employee whose sole job it is to sit on the sidelines and try and decipher your team's signals using his eyes, and a pen and paper. (THIS IS LEGAL IN THE NFL)

Team B in your division has an employee whose sole job it is to sit on the sidelines and try and decipher your team's signals using a videocamera.(THIS IS ILLEGAL IN THE NFL)

Both of these employees are very good at what they do and both Team A and Team B now know all of your hand signals. Against which team are you at a more competitive disadvantage, assuming you don't also know their signals? (If your answer is anything but "Neither," you're an idiot.)

Ostensibly, the rule put in place prohibiting videotaping from the sidelines is not there to make cheating illegal, it is there to keep cheating from becoming too easy. Belichick skirted that rule and has paid for it. Don't think for a minute though, that he doesn't still have someone watching the opposition's coaches without a camera, just like every other team has someone watching his coaches.

This story has turned into the dead horse of 2008 and fans of other teams who want to still beat their drum of "taint" and "asterisk" and all that other foolishness can carry on if they so choose, but do so knowing that every day that goes by makes you sound more and more like bitter, jealous people. As a Patriots fan, I'm not going to apologize for anything Belichick has done that has been against the rules, he's been caught and punished and humbled, I think, and I'm glad for all of those things. But I also can step away from the situation and look at it objectively and what I see is not one team of cheaters in a league full of squeaky clean organizations, but one team that thought it could be better cheaters than the other 31, and was proved wrong.

And let's not forget, the Mitchell Investigation was not targeted to a specific player or team, but baseball in general. If Senator Bitter gets his way and another lengthy "third-party" investigation is launched, it can only be into the entire NFL, not just the Patriots. I'd almost welcome that to hear the silence from the drum-beaters when their team is implicated as well.

So instead of throwing around conspiracy theories with no factual basis (Goodell destroyed tapes, etc)...

Hold on speeddaimon. There is an undeniable factual basis for saying that Goodell destroyed the tapes -- Goodell. After meeting with Belichick at the start of spygate and deciding on the punishment, Roger Goodell has freely acknowledged that he destroyed all the tapes turned over by the Patriots. That's no conspiracy. That's undeniable fact, straight from the man who destroyed the tapes.

To suggest otherwise is to be such a Patriots homer that you cannot acknowledge reality.
