d'antoni is supposedly planning on trading marbury. THANK GOD!!!!!!
my life will actually be better once marbury is out of a Knicks jersey. right now i would take anything for him, the last pick in the draft, the top NBADL player. just get him out, free up cap space and lets do this knicks start off on the right foot and get rid of the plague.

Frustration has been with us Knick fans for quite a while now, and I don't blame you for letting out yours with what effort that STEPHON has shown us the last couple of years, especially on the defensive side of the ball. For whatever it's worth, I did feel for him, with his family's misfortune the past year, along with going down with injury, as well. Besides that, he wasn't a very happy camper playing under Isiah, but, that went both ways, as we all knew, which was very detrimental to the team. As for the upcoming year, with D'ANTONI in, and ZEEK out, I personally think that we're going to see a different STEPHON on the court. With his enormous contract, he will not be moved, unless the Knicks decide to "eat it", which I totally doubt, so, they have to make the best of it. He must re-dedicate himself to the "TEAM" concept, or see his career ended prematurely. No one has ever doubted his talent, but his TOTAL effort, has left a lot to be desired, as we all can acknowledge. He really sounded upbeat with the hiring of DANTONI, and plans to follow the regimen of training of the great KARL MALONE, by working on strengthening his legs through working out in the mountains. Whatever works, and that he works with the coach, and the TEAM, to turn this thing around. We've waited a long time for a winner, GOD knows. I'm looking forward to the oncoming draft, hopefully snagging the #1 pick. We need a little luck, and some wise picks from DONNIE, to get this thing going in the right direction. I personally feel that we have some very good players on our roster, but, we do have to shed some non performers, without mentioning names, not to hurt their feelings. I do like the starting five (my opinion) of:=Jamal Crawford, David Lee, Wilson Chandler, THE NEW Stephon Marbury, And Zach Randolph, at center. Eddie Curry can still be a major force of a player, if, he would lose about thirty pounds, and be taught how to play defense by a great player like Patrick Ewing. Nate Robinson can also be a great player off the bench, but has to learn discipline, shot selection, and patience. He is a very exciting and great talent, but, like a "wild Stallion", he has to be "broken", of some bad judgements, in his over exuberance, to excel. I love his energy, on the court, and he can ignite a team. I also like the aggressive style of Renaldo Balkman, and his high flying defense that he brings to a team. I also think that the Knicks should keep Freddie Jones, Mardy Collins, and the Kid center from Kentucky. Q-Rich has been injury prone and erratic, but could turn it around, under his "old coach". LET"S KEEP OUR FINGERS CROSSED!!

Its not going to happen because nobody wants Marbury. Marbury value is very low right now and the Knicks are not going to get anyone good for him.

they cant trade him for cap space. he is potential cap space.
if he was traded they have to take as much money back with longer contracts most likely.
donnie walsh is smart he knows how valuable marbury's expiring contract is worth.
one more year with stephon, thats just the way it is.

I agree, we cannot trade an expiring contract, as desperate as I am to get this cancer off the team in Babybury, Walsh knows that he will get bad contracts in return, as the Suns traded him in order to sign Nash. That would be the only way to trade him since he has an expiring contract worth a lot of money. Besides, no teams want his sorry attitude and do not know what to expect of him coming off a major injury. If he is not back next year, they should just buy him out and pay off the money he is owed next year, but it is probably not going to happen so we will deal with him another year and stink again in order to help our future. We will also get another good draft pick. Also, we better draft Rose as the next PG and Walsh better make sure that Cancerbury does not mentor him into the same type of player so we are not stuck with Babybury's presence after next year when his contract expires.

I think that's not a great move
Marbury was very good b4 Isaiah came around
They should test him this year
Good: Stays
Bad: Trade him to a desperate team in the East

Right now, I say let all these contracts expire. Let's just accept the rebuilding process and know that we are not going to go anywhere for awhile. The Knicks already got into enough trouble trying to buy and trade their way to a championship. Now we are stuck paying coaches and players who are not even part of the organization anymore. It's worse than the foreclosure crisis!!!

Your totally on the mark, NYK. His contract cap space is much more valuable than any player we can get in return at this point. His 21.5 mil a year is huge towards building this team back to a playoff caliber team. Plus, he is in the last year of his contract, if he really wants to play again even if its in Italy, he's going to have to prove himself as a top player to get any great offers for the following year. He knows if he plays like crap and with a bad attitude, he won't be as desirable. If he plays like the Marbury of old, teams will take a chance on him, so he has incentive to play hard this year......................Anyway, did you guys see how pissed off Lebron was after losing to the Celts in game 7. ........Just another screw being tightened on Lebron's suitcase getting ready for his trip out of Cleveland.................Welcome to the Big Apple in two years, Lebron!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Theres no point in trading him. Let him play out his one year and take that $24 mil off the cap next year. First move is to pray the Knicks get the 1 or 2 pick in the draft.

jkiddsalterago5, Babybury was not a Knick until Isiah was around. Zeke traded for him and that was the first of many bad moves. We took on Penny Hardaway's bad contract while the Suns used the money they saved to sign Nash. And Marbury has not been good in 3 years and is over 30. He is on the downside of his career. Besides, he has not won anywhere in his career unlike the player in your user name. Every team he has played for, especially NJ who traded him for Kidd, all improved after he left. I fear that Rose will be negatively influenced by him but the Knicks cannot trade Cancerbury b/c he is entering the last year of his contract. He is a lame duck and we will only get bad contracts in return and we're already over the cap for a few more years b/c of all Zeke's trades and signings. Hopefully, we can draft Rose, and we keep him for one more year and stink again, end up with another high lotto pick, and let this cancer walk as a free agent next summer.

I miss the Knicks. Back in the day the Knicks were the shit! I'm happy to see that the team will be about something again. I'm a Detroit fan all the way but you guys got a good coach this time and he know what to do. The first thing he will change is the guards, then the center. then he will make a few trades and look you got a all new Knicks team ready to go.
This is a happy time for new York. First Boston come back from the dead now the Knicks. 09 is going to good.

Two reasons you can't trade Marbury now. 1) This is a contract year, which means he has a lot to play for. The Knicks will get his best effort this season. 2) His contract will come off the books next season ($22 mil). Can you say cap relief. Your hatred for Marbury is evident but he will actually be a benefit to the Knicks by holding on to him. I saw the proposed trade with Phoenix for Diaw & Barbosa. On the surface, it would seem like a good deal but it really isn't. The plan is to clear cap space for 2010 summer when LeBron, Wade, Paul and Bosh are | |
