The Timberwolves should draft Jerryd Bayless, assuming that we get the 3rd pick. I see him as a better shooting Tony Parker. With our two 2nd round picks, I would go with Joey Dorsey drom Memphis and Bill Walker from Kansas St. Dorsey is a very good defensive player and is very athletic. Walker is also a great athlete and has a lot of potential. In his 1st round matchup against USC he took over the game when Beasley when out with foul trouble.
I don't think the Wolves will have much cap space in 08, so I wouldn't expect much in free agency. Maybe we could sign a role player or two. I want to resign Ryan Gomes, Kirk Snyder, and Chris Richard, and let Sebastian Telfair and Craig Smith go.
I'd love to get rid of Antoine Walker, but I don't think anyone will trade for him and his huge contract. Finally, trade Marko Jaric for Joel Przybilla. The Blazers are going to have a crowded front court with Greg Oden, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Channing Frye. Jaric gives them a versatile player who can player three positions. The Timberwolves get a true center who can rebound very well and defend. Then big Al can focus more on offense.

I have not heard or seen much on Bayless but I've heard he's pretty good, and if he turns out to be a better shooting Tony Parker then we better draft him haha.
I happen to love the way Bill Walker plays. He kind of reminds me of Corey Maggette. I also like Dorsey a lot, but getting lucky to draft both of them will be pretty hard.
I've also been a big fan of Przybilla. When he is healthy he can be a force in the paint. I also think his game compliments Jefferson well.
One place we disagree is the Craig Smith situation. I believe he is a very good option off the bench. He has a great ability to score around the basket which is important for times when Al is on the bench.
I think we should get rid of Telfair, Griffin, Jaric, Walker, Madsen, and Richards
I would also trade for Michael Redd because pairing him with Big Al would benefit them both. It would be something like Walker (big contract), Foye, Gomes, and one or possibly two future picks
I would add a few other vets during the off-season and this is how my depth chart would look..
C - Joel Przybilla, Michael Doleac, Tony Battie
F - Al Jefferson, Craig Smith
F - Corey Brewer, Brent Barry
G - Michael Redd, Rashad McCants, Kirk Snyder
G - Jerryd Bayless, Carlos Arroyo

No one liked Telfair? i thought he did a good job, he had his shooting problems but overall i think he did a great job. I would love to see them get Michael Redd but dont see it happening. Get rid of Craig Smith????? You have to be kidding me, i thought he did a great job, i think his only down fall is he plays in the same spot as Big Al and they have similar styles that dont work well together when they are both on the court. I think landing the third pick would be the worst place for us. We would have to pay big money for whoever and the 3- 6 guys are very similar. I actually would like to see us take OJ Mayo. He progressed well through the college season, and is an athletic 2 who can shoot pretty well. I dont think he will be great right away, and would be a little more of a project then the others but he has more of the skills that we are missing. I like the idea of getting Dorsey. The Przybilla trade might be a decent move.

I wouldn't trade for Michael Redd. He's a aging player who doesn't play defense. He would not make Timberwolves contenders. We should continue to build around young players.
As for Craig Smith, he has trouble guarding power forwards. And with Ryan Gomes and Chris Richard on the bench, we don't really need him.

I liked how Telfair played as well but he made some comments about possibly going to the Knicks and I feel that we'll go guard in the draft and we already have Foye who is a better point than Telfair, so he'll be making a big chunk of money to sit on our bench.
As for Michael Redd.. he is a pure shooter, plain and simple, and finding someone who is young, can shoot, and play defense is very hard to find. I just feel that adding Redd's shooting ability to compliment Big Al's inside scoring would be huge. Plus, he wouldn't even have to guard the opponent's best wing because we have Brewer to do that.

On the TWolves offseason....
Sebastian Telfair has likely earned himself a starting gig and a nice paycheck elsewhere. He preformed admirably enough to make some team out there bring him in with the chance for a starting gig. Would McHale like to resign him? Sure, but he's probably going to ask for a little more than we'll give him. Miami would be a great fit.
Ryan Gomes is coming back. Period.
Ditto Chris Richard.
But only because Craig Smith will want a little more than the Wolves will offer and a chance at a starting spot, which he won't get here.
Kirk Snyder may be asked back in a reserve roll. He may or may not accept. Even I don't know that one.
On to the draft.....
At this point(before the lottery, I mean), it's impossible to tell which way the Wolves will go. If we get a Top 2 pick....option A is Derrick Rose, B is Michael Beasley. If We somehow manage, by the grace of God, to get Rose, Foye gets moved over to the offguard spot and we go from there. If we get Beasley, he'll mistakingly have to play PF this year(I say this because he projects better to SF) and we'll have to look for a center elsewhere.
However, if the ping pong balls fall as they stand now, and we wind up picking third, there are 2 options. In no particular order...
A. Brook Lopez. The center this franchise has never had. He won't be a hall of famer, but he'll be very good for a long time. He has a sweet scoring touch around the basket, will get his rebounds, and fills a need. He has proven he can play with another big while in college(his brother), is a great passer from the low post, and if we are ever going to compete, we will need a true center. Look at the other teams in the west who are going to be good in the next few years. Lakers, Hornets, Blazers, Jazz. What do they all have in common? Very good PF's and C's. You may argue that Utah with Mehmet Okur is a little less conventional, but he's still a center who puts up numbers.
B. Jerryd Bayless. Center may be more of a need, but Foye has shown he's not a true PG. Bayless, however, is. He can get to the basket at will, can shoot from outside, and has the court vision to run an offense. Foye is more of an athlete than a baller, and a move to off guard may suit him better. Rather than having to think about getting his teammates involved, Foye can focus on making plays. Bayless compares well to some of the other PGs in the West and as soon as his defense catches up with his offense, he'll be extremely effective.
All in all, this draft will determine the future of this franchise, moreso than any other. Who we select will determinewhich, if any, free agents we go after next year when a ton of money comes off the books. I would predict we wind up around 3 or 4 and take Lopez. He'll be the Parrish to McHales' Jefferson.

say we get the 5th pick (because lets face it the wolves dont have very good luck). Lets say that Rose, Beasley, Lopez and Bayless are all gone I like either Mayo or Gordon at the 5th spot but i think Mayo is a little bettter than Gordon plus has NBA size.
