The kid is amazing. I would have to rank him 3 1 of all the great young SP.

He is really good and not much talked about. The same goes for Edinson Volquez. I think he may win a pitching duel vs Lincecum.

All I know is, is that at least all the stuff I used to hear in regards to Lincecum and his delivery have finally died down.  That was the only thing most folks had as far as why he was not going to develop or stay as an ace type pitcher.

Volquez has been dominating. I haven't seen him pitch yet. If he is for real it looks like a great deal for both teams as Tex received Hamilton who has been awesome too.

That is true. However Volquez was pretty awful pitching for Tex in his limited attempts. He did have awesome AAA numbers.

Because the Rangers were so desperate for pitching, they rushed Edinson Volquez to The Show before he was ready. After he didn't succeed in his first couple go arounds, they demoted him all the way back to A ball and had an absolutely ridiculous list of rules he had to abide by. These are just some of the things they insisted on him doing:
• Run on and off the field within 12 seconds.
• On days he pitched, only speak to his catcher, manager and pitching coach.
• Write down a plan for the nine hitters.
• Use a No. 2 blade when shaving his head.
• Throw 60 percent first-pitch strikes.
• On 80 percent of 0-1, 0-2 counts, throw an action pitch, or quality purpose pitch.
• Chart pitches on days he is not starting.
• Always have his shirt tucked in, and his pants tidy.
They treated him like a little kid which couldn't have been good for his psyche. This is one happy Reds fan to have him in our rotation right now and for years to come.

I just watched him pitch tonight vs the Marlins. Very good stuff with spotty control.I will go with Lincecum over Volquez.

I'm going to have to throw Yovani Gallardo, when he's healthy, ahead of Jair Jurrjens. The other two look solid though.

Lincecum is his 2nd years in the major. Yeah he is a real deal.
Volquez is his 1st year in the major. I have to wait next year to see if he still really that good.

If Lincecum was actually on a team that looked like a major league team, he would have a much better record. I personally think Matt Cain is the best young pitcher in the league. He needs more run support and he would be one the best pitchers in the league period. Giants have good young pitchers but no offense.

Same goes for Volquez. The Reds are abysmal (to my dismay), and he has done this all within the "friendly confines" of Great American Small Park. In fact, entering todays game, he had an ERA UNDER 1 pitching at GASP He has also only given up 1 HR on the season, and it was on the road.

Gallardo is up there but the injury puts him out for the year.

Cain will be great but he is a step below Lincecum in my opinion.

Well, Tim Lincecum has a 5-1 record, so i'm not sure how much better his record could be.

I personally think Matt Cain is the best young pitcher in the league. He needs more run support and he would be one the best pitchers in the league period.

Matt Cain has a 4.17 ERA with 29 walks, so it's not exactly the run support that has hurt him.  How can you say he is even better that Lincecum who has a 1.61 ERA and only 18 walks, much less Edinson Volquez.

I was including last year as well. Lincecum was 7-5 with an ERA of 4.00 in 24 starts. This year he has two wins against San Diego who really struggles to score runs. I used to watch Lincecum pitch in college at UW and new he was going to be a good major league pitcher, I just thought he wouldn't get there so quick.
