The Atlanta Braves (19-18) start a three game series against the Philadelphia Phillies (21-18) at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The two teams are only separated by a game in the NL East Standings and are both coming off recent struggles offensively. Atlanta recently ended a six-game road losing streak, defeating the Pirates 8-1 yesterday. Atlanta holds the majors worst road record at 5-14. The Phillies dropped the final two games in a series with San Francisco and manager Charlie Manuel says the team needs to hit better to win games. The Braves will send Jo-Jo Reyes to the hill while the Phillies counter with Kyle Kendrick.

PITCHING MATCHUP

Jo-Jo Reyes - ATL - 1-0, 2.25 ERA, 5 BB, 6 K
Kyle Kendrick - PHI - 2-2, 4.93 ERA, 12 BB, 18 K

Reyes is coming off a shortened start when he left with a blister in the third inning against San Diego. Reyes' only other start was a win against Cincinnati where he threw five and third innings for the win.

Kendrick has pitched three straight quality starts but only has one win to show for it. He threw seven innings against Pittsburgh on April 26, only allowing three runs for the win.

INJURY REPORT

Mark Teixeira left with a back injury in the Braves first game of a doubleheader yesterday. He is listed as Questionable. Greg Norton will most likely start in his place.

Post your thoughts, observations, play-by-play and whatever. I won't be posting as much on this game thread or the GameCenter glog, but I'll be checking in from my night class. I'm might also be going to the game in person tomorrow to cause havoc in Philly. Good times.

LET'S GO BRAVES!!!

Im not sure I have wanted a 3 game sweep more than now. I want them to prove they can win on the road and win with injuries. GOOD teams win their home games. GREAT ones win with injuries.

I really like the new lineup (except Tex being out) with Escobar, Kotsay and Chipper batting in the top 3 spots followed by McCann, Norton, Frenchy, KJ, Blanco, and the pitcher spot. About time, Kotsay has been playing his ass off lately, nothing like a hot bat infront of Chipper, and Esco leading off can't be as bad as Kelly has been lately.

GO HOTLANTA (and please be able to lay a bunt down)

I love the 3-0 lead. I'm not sold on Kotsay batting 2nd, but he has been hot lately, so I'll give Bobby a pass for that. Good showing so far. I know it's early but I think giving Reyes an early lead will help him out.

Can someone hit with RISP? I thought we started to solve this problem yesterday in Pitt. Whatever, McCann leaves the bags full in the second wasting a great chance to put the Phils down big early

3-0 Braves, bottom 2

I don't like having Yunel Escobar in the leadoff spot. With this lineup, I would prefer to see Mark Kotsay in that spot for the Braves.

But, it's 3-0 in the middle of the third. Hopefully jumping out to that early lead will allow Jo-Jo Reyes to relax and get the job done.

It's getting pathetic at times, watching men walking back to the dugout after being on base. ESPECIALLY with men on 3rd and one out or less. I like the lineup, Kelly's bat is cold, and Kotsay is hot.

On the bright side with all the men on base in the early going, we have not hit into a double play (I've got my fingers crossed)

GO HOTLANTA

I'm still a fan of Johnson/Escobar 1-2 with Kotsay batting lower in the order. Kotsay is hard to place in the lineup, but I prefer him to be around 6th in the lineup. I want him driving in runs, not scoring them. Let the speedy guys, Johnson, Escobar, Blanco, handle that.

I wouldn't mind seeing Blanco, Escobar at the top, atleast until Kelly's bat comes around, and you know it will, it's got a pretty swing.
