They say its not a series until someone losses at home.
We need this one bad, and I think regardless of who is in the line-up, this team has enough back-bone to get a W, even if its the only one we can come up with.
I know you Pittsburgh fans are glued to our message board, some who have interesting/intelligent thoughts, others are just queers looking for smack-talking kicks, so I'll go on record as saying despite the injuries we've had, the Pens have certainly earned their 2 wins. They have been the better team. They deserve the lead.
I hope tonight is physical. I hope we play like there is no tomorrow, and I hope some of the forwards besides Richards feel like contributing.
My prediction is a 3-2 final, in favor of Philly, with Richards, Briere, and Umberger tallying. Hopefully it happens, and it starts the fire we have obviously lost.

good to see you hangin' in there...I stayed out of the 230 post thread so I am getting it out of my system now...brutal group
I was real pleased w/ game 2...that could have been the series right there the way it was looking after period 1
don't get to down on them CK...you know how hard these two injuries hit us where we couldn't afford it
glad to see you back...tonights a biggie which would make game 4 an all out WAR

Needless to say this game is the series tonight. I am hoping that Parent can fill in nicely and eat up some minutes so Hatcher and Smith don't fall down from exhaustion on the ice. The team as a whole obviously has no jump since the Pens are controlling the play completely. Hopefully they can make adjustments so the forwards don't skate too far ahead of the play (they need give up on the long homerun pass -- too risky). If they start completing passes and get the puck in the zone then the forecheck starts to light up a little and puts the pressure on the Pens to clear the zone for once.
Without Timonen, the PP is a hot mess and not easy on the eyes. But you don't get points for beauty so take shots and get some rebounds. Ugly goals count the same as highlight goals so get some shots on net.
I agree that they played well in Game 2 but they have had trouble clearing their own zone all season and it was bound to hurt them eventually. Score the first goal and set the tone and don't let the Penguins take the crowd out of the game early.
It will be tough to counter Crosby, Malkin, and Hossa (especially without Coburn now) but here's hoping the forwards step it up and possess the puck for stretches.
OK, I'm done with my nervous rambling.
Go Flyboys.

I agree, they need to get on board 1st, that'll pump up the place. That said, I think the Flyers win tonight.

Another nice touch would be for the Briere line to wake up. Hopefully having the last change at home will help shake them loose.

I'll tell you what cb33, I'm still just getting it through my head that we wait all week (last week) to start this series only to lose our most important player without playing a game. Its like, I'm stuck on the whole situation. I'm staying dormit for the most part because the minute you mention it, Pitt fans want to through the "excuse" line at you, but in reality, it just knocked the wind out of me. They've been winning becuase they're good, I don't want to take that away. But this Flyers team minus Timonen is not this Flyers team. Somehow though, I finally feel ready to move on tonight, even with the Coburn situation compacting the whole thing.
GO FLYERS!

I hear you loud and clear...the timing of these two blows has sent this team reeling (not to mention us) at such a horrible time...this team had everything going for it and then (to steal the SI cover when the NFL went on strike in 1981)
PFFFFFFFFFFT!
(nfl ball without air)
We all know this team had (maybe still have) the potential to make this happen.
We all know that the Pens fans have zero sympathy or respect for us and have rejoiced (to an extent I never knew possible) over the concept that we lost these two vital players...deep down they know they were scared shootless of this team and are relieved they're chances have improved drastically. Hence the arrogance to the Nth degree---nervous energy released.
I have accepted now the following---
there will not be a bigger rivalry for the Flyers then the Pens for the next 5 years...whatever happens...we or our team will not forget this experience or the piss poor luck we have seen here in 2008...so we'll get another chance or 4
biggest thing though WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE! we go HOME knowing exactly who is out, with 6 defensemen, knowing we could have beat them in game 2. I mean I could not believe they hung with them considering the way that 1st period went...I consider the last 2 periods of that game momentum going into tonight. We take two out of 3 periods for the next 2 games that's 6 out of 8 going into game 5 and god knows what happens...EVEN if we lose game 4...what happened against the caps will keep us motivated...and if we go down this series how jacked are you for next year with this experience under the belt---you know most of this team will be back and HUNGRY
but how cool would it be if they got the fever and pulled out this freakin series...
it would be better if then if we had the kimmo and coburn...you know how you are feeling better? well that's how the boys feel, too...just like those first two games were a bye, in sense we are lucky that we didn't have home ice!
at any rate let's enjoy this one...hope to god the GAME IS FAIR...
then maybe we can talk about thursday...
ORANGE CRUSH!
