Don't for a second try to pretend that LSU and Florida are different programs with different talent and depth.
Thats what they really think.
Florida 40 LSU 24 in the SWAMP.

The "logic" that escapes me is ranking a team by who they lost rather than who they return. There are many people that believe that 2008 USC is laden with first day draft picks.
I'm one of them.
And although they lost their starting QB, the two guys competing at QB were very highly regarded recruits who have a combined 8-1 record as NCAA starters.
LSU's 2 guys competing have NEVER taken a college snap. HUGE difference. The comparisons to Mauck and Flynn are way off because Mauck and Flynn had not only taken snaps, but had actually started games before. Some of you are not giving these SEC coaches, that you all have called great, enough credit. Something tells me they will find a way to confuse a raw QB.
Of course this is all opinion, but that's exactly what polls are.
Exactly. I don't understand why some people get so upset with people's opinions.
Now I'm sure that there are many LSU fans who are sick and tired of seeing USC "overrated" every year. The injustice of it all. LSU would NEVER receive that type of preferential treatment in the polls that USC gets. In fact if LSU EVER lost its starting QB and 4 players in the first round of the draft, the pollsters would definely penalize them severely....like in 2007....when they stated the year at...let's see....#2. And we all know that 4 (USC in 2008) is higher than 2 (LSU in 2007).
Well said Jag. Poor LSU gets "no respect", but somehow they jump from #7 to #2 after a 7 point win over Tennessee. When the dust cleared, there were 5 BCS conference champs with 2 losses and LSU was the one "chosen" to play for the title. Yea, that lack of respect is just killing LSU all right. Give me a break.
I'm not a fan of preseason polls. Personally, I'd start LSU at #1 because they are the defending champs.
I would as well. I said the same thing about Florida last year and got ridiculed big time on here, but the last thing I, as a voter, would allow happen is to have the defending champs go unbeaten and end up behind 2 other unbeatens. I don't think they will go unbeaten, but I will make them #1 until someone beats them. I know this year is totally different, but that's just the way I would do it. I have no problem with nearly everyone else doing it differently. Just my opinion on how I would vote, an opinion that I'm sure shocks those that say I'm an LSU hater. I am far from an LSU hater; I am simply a hater of whining and excuses, especially the "turnovers, penalties, and officiating" excuses. So, my preseason poll will be out soon and LSU will be #1, even if Les Miles has to play QB.
There are two explanations why one poll has LSU at #16:
A. The pollsters are simply of the opinion that there are 15 teams that are returning better teams than LSU.
B. The pollsters really believe that LSU is better than USC (and 14 other teams), but has decided to give those teams preferential treatment over LSU.
Option A makes more sense to me. But you may believe option B if you like--becasue LSU never gets treated well in the polls, do they? Just remember, it's easiest to call someone else "ugly" if you've never seen your own reflection.
Now, THAT, my friends was very well said. Good post Jag.

That sounds about right, percy. Too much Tebow for LSU in that one.
Remember last year when I had Florida as my pre season #1 ( I explained to you later why I did it ) and you, the hugest Gator fan of all, said I was crazy? I've got to give you big time credit for two reasons:
1) You took all "homerness" out of it and realized that your team had some holes to fill after a national title the year before. You were being realistic and weren't getting upset when pre season polls had the Gators all over the place, some top 5 and others outside the top five, if I'm not mistaken.
2) You ended up being right.
Thanks for keeping it real, percy.

I have Florida in the #4- #8 spots this year. Last year was #8- #12. The highly recruited unproven players Florida had didn't sway me last year 1 bit. Florida is capable of losing 2-3 games this year but I hope they can get over the Auburn curse and have a great season. If their defense doesn't improve another 4 loss season wouldn't shock me.
Florida plays LSU well. Even when they win the National Title.
- 2003 LSU gets shut down 19-7 in Baton Rouge. Gators win.
- 2007 It takes 5 for 5 on 4th downs for LSU to squeak by 28-24.
It was obvious the dislike Tebow has for LSU and Florida's offense (I think) in 08 will torch them something nice.

Sorry, I looked it up and now realize Hatch took a few snaps late in a 44-0 game against 5-7 Middle Tennessee. How could I have possible missed that? LOL. Yea, that compares to Sanchez's experience at USC, doesn't it?

??? I never said anything about Sanchez. Just pointing out the fact you emphasized the word "NEVER" when Hatch has seen the field. Doesn't matter when, where or he, point is he has been on the field in a game. Don't forget Flynn never saw the field before he stepped on it and one of LSU's best games ever as a QB.

Well what do you know pc, we can agree on something. I don't think LSU should be ranked #1 BUT I do agree with your logic as the defending champs, they should be #1 UNTIL they are beaten.
So, my preseason poll will be out soon and LSU will be #1, even if Les Miles has to play QB.
I like it PC!
