Well from what ive heard, galarraga is going back to the minors when willis comes back cuz they didnt want to stick him in the bullpen. Our best pitcher as of late and hes goin to toledo.Soooo, obviously they need to get a pitcher or two sometime this year. but who's avaliable and who do yoou think the Tigers should go for and who do they trade to get him. Im just curious and we need pitching so i was wonderin what u guys thought.

I doubt any deals get made. In spite of expectations of many I viewed this is a transition year. Ivan Rodriquez, Todd Jones and Kenny Rogers probably gone after this season and Sheffield after next. Young players like Matt Joyce and Clete Thomas to go with Cabrera who is young and Granderson. Wouldn't be surprised to see Jeff Larish ( 2005 draft pick )who is a left hand power hitter at AAA toledo in the mix pretty soon also. As for pitching much depends on Rodney and Zumya. Fransisco Crucetta in spite of his bad outing against Boston has still looked good (6k,3bb in 5.2 ip) . As for starters they are tied to Verlander, Bonderman and Robertson so unless they trade one of them I don't see a deal being done.

You know what I think?  When August roles around we are all going to sit back and laugh about how much we talked about the pitching staff.  The Tigers will be 5-6 games up in the division and our starters will be on a role.  We dont need to make ANY MORE moves.  This team has traded and traded until they have nothing left to trade with.  The guys we have now have the talent.  They just need to pull it all together.  Leyland has shown that he is pretty good at doing just that.

The Tigers have committed to Verlander, Bonderman, Willis, and Robertson to be the main part of the staff the next three seasons. All of them have the talent to pitch a whole lot better than they have this season. The Tigers were expected to have solid starting pitching. Galarraga has no experience in a bullpen and is not a long term solution to the starting pitching. He is good enough to be a starter in the majors, but the Tigers rotation is full because of contract committments.

Rogers is the only one who has turned his season around with three straight quality starts.

Willis is supposedly throwing with better control now. We just need to see it in live action.

Verlander's velocity has improved the last couple starts. I expect we will start seeing some better results soon.

Bonderman went from mid 90s to upper 80s and has lost his control. His slider doesn't have the same bite as it used to have. I wonder if is arm is really recovered from last seasons injury.

Robertson I don't want to talk about. I still don't understand the Tigers committment to him. He is a 4th starter in the rotation at best. His contract extension makes no sense to me.
