since 1980's, by dad, and that's the way I will raise my son.
Good Lord, dude. You brainwash your kids to "love" specific sports teams? That's soooooooooo Ohio of you. You must really think the midwest is never going to rebound from it's current economic situation. Come on man, there's hope. Don't have you son cling to aosu as a way to feel good about ohio.

It's not often that I sit down an read through a thread that was started more than a few days ago, especially one this long. But this one has fascinated me. Bravado, ignorant comments, and comments made just to get people POed abound!
We are months away from kick-off, yet many posters on here have sealed the fate of many teams, particularly tOSU.
It will be great fun watching how the games play out this year, just like most other years. It will be tough not to make the winner of tOSU and USC #1 in the country, if all else holds as expected. Until that game, it will not matter if your team is 1st, 5th or 15th.
As far as conferences, it really doesn't matter what conference you are in....conference games are grudge matches.....you play the same teams pretty much every year, you know each other, many kids from both sides of the ball played either with or against each other in HS, you know each other.
That is why playing a mid-level conference game on the road is just as likely to hand you a loss as playing a tough OOC game.
As farm as SEC fans go, I can't blame them. I would be confident too if the likely opponent in the NC game (that is IF the SEC makes it) is a team the league has defeated in 9 straight bowl games.
Ahhhh, but remember....all streaks end at some point (unless you are Rocky Marciano).

what is pretty funny about the OOC schedule is that OSU has played the best home and home with Texas a couple of years ago and now have one with USC..Both of these teams have won national championships in the last 5 years..OSU is like any other big time school out there by playing some smaller local schools..I really don't like that we are playing Youngstown State but what can you expect..Tressel is throwing some cash towards his old school..I blame the rest of the Big Ten for not being up to everyone else's standards..Really the only reason the Big Ten has been considered down is b/c Michigan has been down for a couple of years..OSU has been continuing to get better and better..Also, the Big East and ACC are not as strong as the Big Ten..

Look, what do we have to do to get the PAC 10/SEC matchups in the BCS bowel games!!!???!!!
BCS bowel games? Love it. Absolutely, positively love it! We need more of this kind of insight on CFB. I just wish I could give more than one 5-star rating to this post.

Blame the BCS, but don't take anything away from OSU.
What do they have anyone would want? Oh yeah, a bunch of also-ran certificates of participation.
I'd like to see the coach and team do well and get some retribution, if only there were some way to keep the fans from taking the credit. They don't realize it, but those fans actually lower the level of team play by their incessant homerism, distracting players and making game preparation more difficult.
Bud Grant and Jim Kelly each deserved a super bowl win or two. It just never happened. Those teams were as good for a longer time than others who somehow won SBs, but here in USofA nobody wants to look past first place.

I worry for the USC fans who take OSU lightly.
Don't worry. Be happy! At least one set of the most obnoxious fans in the land will cry in their beer for a few days.

I think too many people gaze too much on the fact that OSU lost the last 2 bowl games. Well, so what? That doesn't mean anything. This year they will be a much better team because these kids have played together and now they know what it takes to get the to the title game and also win it. They know they must win every game, and to do that they have to play focused and smart, no matter who they play. Last year's weird streak of upsets will not happen again. They will have to run the table, but I think anyone who thinks they cannot do that because they have USC on the slate are real silly.

The Southeastern Conference had 263 players on the 2007 National Football League opening day active rosters, which led all conferences.
The Atlantic Coast Conference was second with 238 players, followed by the Big Ten with 234 players, Pac-10 with 183 players, Big 12 with 176 players and the Big East with 84 players.
