My Brother, unfortunately a die-hard Padres fan, text'd me today that the Pads were looking to Trade Khalil Greene to the Cubs in a deal that would net the Pads outfielder Felix Pie.
I apologize a Dodgers fan has to keep you guys in the loop, but at least you heard it first from a real man.
As a lifelong diehard Padres fan I am not encouraged by this news...But your pic does beg the question. Why is an avid Dodger fan sporting a B Bonds pic? Kind of contradictory to me.
Thanks D-town, but i actually heard that on wed. on the local radio stations. The Cubs said they were not interested, suposley. (cant spell). But i hope its a lie cuz that will ruin my Padre year for good....
Honestly SouthBay, I cannot believe the Cubs would not be interested in that deal. Khalil is as good as it gets defensively and he's got some pop in his bat. I'd bet he could do some damage in that mini-park in Chi-town.
When teams start performing really bad, the rumors begin flowing like Niagra Falls. If the Padres traded with the Cubs for Khalil Greene it would have to be for a huge name. Felix Pie? No way.
Khalil Greene for Flelix Pie? I think the Padres should throw in Jake Peavy and Adrian Gonzalez as well because Felix Pie is .......Bad rumor. Felix Pie is a bust Greene is proven. As far as Adam Dunn and and Ken Griffey Jr either one would be an improvment, the problem is how quickly can a deal be done. If this keeps up, the Padres will be sellers not buyers the potential free agents, Nice to amoung the ranks Pirates, Giants, and Rangers, that should never be the case with this team!. The pitching staff needs some run production and quick.
In Ryan Theriot and Ronny Cedeno, the Cubs have 2 SS doing far better at the plate than Khalil Greene. He is a fine defensive SS, but it is not like the Cubs' SS stink up the joint in that area.
And, Felix Pie barely has over 200 big league ABs. Calling him a bust is premature. Hell, he is even hittin netter than Greene at this point.
Who's on the farm at SS? It's obvious we're a little short in the OF and Pie would be a nice addition in CF if he can hit. I'm sure Towers would scour the Cubs for some unknown arms as part of the deal. Would be a straight up deal since Pie is about to be sent down to the minors after Edmonds gets signed by the Cubs.
That rumor as many of you know is no where to be true. it makes no sense for both ball clubs. After the signing of Edmonds for the Cubs, Pie will be in AAA to revamp for later in the year.
