Felix Jones may very well prove to be the best pick in the 2007 draft, over all of the rest- even his comrade Darren McFadden. And, that may be bad news for Marion Barber.

Because, if Felix Jones lives up to the scouting reports, and his stats in his attempts in college, before long, he will be very hard for the Cowboys to ask to stand on the sidelines.

Already, Felix Jones is showing that he doesn't have to be second to anyone- and that Al Davis may have paid for a Cadillac, but the Cowboys got the Ferrari- for the price of a Ford. And, Jones will almost certainly outproduce his Arkansas teamate for this next season, considering the Cowboys are ready for the Super Bowl; while the Raiders don't know if they can go .500.

With his 'smooth' running style, and his 'wow' factor, Felix Jones may have just opened up the offense for the Dallas Cowboys better than anyone else- even his predecessor Julius Jones, could have. Why? Because the rest of the NFL may never see him coming. McFadden got the attention; but Jones had the better yards per carry.

I have a good feeling about Felix Jones, and it's not just because he was our number one pick. It's because he is already impressing the coaches, after only one day, and he no longer stands in the shadow of Darren McFadden. Now, it's his time to do it; and unlike his counterpart with the Raiders, he actually has an organization and a team that can give him some support.

Tashard Choice, who compares to Marion Barber in his running style, gives the Cowboys a rookie tandem that very well may outshine the previous pair in all areas.

It's looking to be a great year to be a Cowboys fan.

Great write up here.  I agree with Jones being a great pick, even if Mendenhall was available.  If Felix Jones lives up to his potential I see Marion Barber starting but having these backs split carries.  I cant imagine Felix Jones staying on the sidelines to much if he proves to be a great RB, but splitting the carries 50/50 could be very deadly for the other teams.

Yeah, romo09, Felix is going to be a special player.  He has been in the shadow of McFadden and now it is his time to shine.  He knows that Jerry drafted him to be the big play running back.  He can take it to the house from anywhere on the field.  He has a great work ethic, which means he will continue to improve.  We have the same all-pro offensive line.  I will go as far as to say, Felix will cause Jerry to make a decision again in about three years.  Felix, Choice, and Barber will eventually challenge each other for carries, but Felix will have a higher yards per carry average.  I can see Felix taking over the starting job in about three seasons.  I know that sounds over confident, but this guy has run behind a heisman canidate and now a pro bowler in Barber.  He is learning while he develops into a STAR.

i think this is a very good thread...im not sure what game it was but i watched felix run during an arkansas game and i think mcfadden was qb but i watched him run and i was saying to myself i HOPE the Cowboys get this kid...now a couple months later we got him and i think he is going to be the great back that we have been waiting for since the great #22 left us...some will think im crazy or stupid but thats just my thinking...and i also believe that if felix does good this year and choice shows some potential I WOULD NOT be suprised if mb3 is no longer a cowboy!!! i hope he is but with the kind of money he wants for his playing ability it would not be worth it to resign him. if felix doesnt have a good year then you bet mb3 will most likely be back but watch out barber felix could put up some gody numbers!!!

I like Jones too but before I we go praisin' him lets see how he developes during the regular season.  Just saying Gore, Cadillac Williams and Bush were all highly praised coming out and look where they ended up in the rushing stats.

Let him earn that Start on his helmet first.

he main thing I worry about is reps... I think when you have a 2 back system - maybe they dont get enough feeling for the game.

I dont have anything to back this up - I just worry a little about it.

BackdaBlue - are you talking about Frank Gore? He was a 2nd round choice by SF. But I can say as a Hurricane fan... I knew he would be good. And trust me when I say this - Phoenix got a STEAL by taking Calias Campbell in the 2nd round! I REALLY wish the Cowboys could have figured out a way to get this guy.  Oh well... they have not drafted a Miami player since Irvin.

You said Felix Jones is the best in the 2007 draft? I would bet Adrian Peterson was the best in the 2007 draft.

Call me crazy, but I like Patrick Willis the best from the 2007 draft.  AP is a beast, but Willis will still be in his prime in 5-7 years.  AP likely wont hold up for many 16 game seasons.
