OK, enough banging the "Tony Romo went to Cabo" drum already......lemme see, Pricko says it wasn't right, was a bad idea, and he is qualified to say this why?  Oh yea, he writes about football (and writes is being very generous).....but, everyone on his team, who actually play the game and know what it takes to be and get prepared, don't have a problem with it...hell, Jason Witten went along!  You mean to tell me someone like TO, as outspoken as he is, wouldn't have latched onto that and never let go if it was seen as a reason for the loss?  Hell no.  So shut the hell up, Pricko, about $hit you know nothing about.

Then he has the brilliant observation that because of the Pacman signing, and the increase in talent that came with it, then the pressure is on to win now.  OMG......that shows such clarity!  Uh, newsflash Peter, NFL coaches are ALWAYS under pressure to win now.  And, to be honest, with 13 Pro Bowlers returning (14, counting Pacman), and their draft, if Phillips doesn't do better this year than he should be fired.

This fool is so stupid, how does he even keep his job?  If all it takes is stating the obvious, drawing asinine conclusions and generally showing your ignorance on a daily basis, then I am applying.

Prisco has no clue what he's talking about.... he imagines that Cowboys fans want Wade out, and that's far from the truth.  We were just ecstatic that Garrett was resigned.

It's this simple - If the Cowboys succceed, Phillips and Garrett stay in place.  If they fail, then Phillips gets fired.... just as he would if Garrett wasn't here.  It just so happens that Garrett will be the replacement if he is.

Garrett is getting $3mm per year and is happy with the situation.  He will eventually be a head coach, and getting that kind of money, you can bet that he doesn't mind having the weight of the world on his shoulders which manifests itself in a won-loss record and playoff performance.

Some people just don't get basic logic.  Prisco is obviously such a guy.

TO couldn't say anything about it because he paid for the trip. It was a bad decision. His focus should have been on the game. After going out the way he did in '06, fumbling a snap for a potential game winning field goal, you would think he'd know that.

Prisco said the same thing you did, "there is always pressure to win in the NFL, there is just more pressure now for him because of the 13 returning pro bowlers and the signing of Pac Man.

Get it together before you comment on an article. Too many of you guys take it personally when something is written about your favorite team. Nobody but Brett Favre and the Packers get better press than the Cowboys. So if something is occasionally written that you don't like, just put it down and read the 40 favorable articles that were written that same day.

I'm sick and tired of hearing the Cowboys referred to as "America's Team." I'm very much American and I don't care for a team that is built by dollars and lacks sense.

As an avid Cowboy fan I read many articles and follow the website on almost a daily basis. In reading, something we all no prisco doesn't do, I have seen no outcry for Phillip's ouster. Not even a smidgen of a cry. The wonderful thing about prisco is he never lets the truth get in the way of his stories. I guess that's why they're called stories.

I am not a Cowboys fan, but I live in Dallas right now. There is a lot of local media talking about getting Garret in there as head coach and a lot of conversations I have heard from Cowboys fans about not being happy with Wade as a head coach. I think it would be a mistake for the Cowboys to make a change. It takes different skill sets to be a head coach vs. a coordinator. Garret seems to be a very good offensive coordinator. Taking his attention away from that and bogging him down with everyday team management stuff does not seem like a good idea.

Welcome to the NFL!!  Welcome to Dallas!    Not like this doesnt happen every year with any team....... Maybe not so much with teams who made the playoffs the year b/f but it does happen. Look at the Dallas Mavs....make the playofss every year it seems and the coach was fired for losing in the first round this year. In the pro's, it becomes not enough when you don't win championships. Some franchises would consider the playoffs successful while others consider anything short of the Superbowl ring a failure.... Thats why I grew eyes in the back of my had so my PS-2 owner doesnt fire me...ya heard

Agreed.  It is pretty obvious that Jones plans on making Garrett the next Cowboys head coach.  But that doesn't mean it has to be next year.  That is what everyone said last year, too.  Remember, Jones almost offered the HC job to Garrett last year but opted for a veteran to help season him more.  One or two more years as a coordinator can only help Garrett.  He will get the chance, everybody just needs to be patient.  The team went 13-3, had 13 probowlers, and was the #1 seed in the NFC.  That is a pretty good turn-around from 9-7 and a wildcard berth the previous year.  So people need to back off of Phillips.  Yeah, they lost in the playoff game.  Yeah, it sucked.  That was last year.  This is the new season getting ready to start.  The Boys will win in the playoffs, Romo will get his chance to prove all the doubters wrong.  The roster is stacked and set for a few years, so they will get theirs.  Geez, people need to chill.

I personally think that making Garrett a head coach is about the dumbest thing Jones could do right now, even next year.  The kid is what 40? I think Phillips has more coaching experience then Garrett has years on this Earth.  You need old guys who have played and coached a long time.  Being an o-cord is easy, you have 1 goal only, score points.  Yes easier said than done, but no different than taking a D-cord and doing it.  A head coach loses sleep, gets nasty bags under their eyes and sacrafice many things in their life for the players, fans, owners, and team.  Does anyone here really think that Garrett is prepared to take his $3 mill a year now, maybe $6-$8 mill when he becomes a head coach and just give his young life away to be a coach?? I personally don't think he has the knowledge or more importantly the wisdom to be a head coach.

I'll agree with every about Prisco.  I am a huge NFL/Cowboys fan.  I love ow much press the NFL gets in the offseason.  But... I swaer guys like Prisco are looking to fabricate storys and create controversy about  a situation.  Its been mentioned in previous posts in this thread that the only ones calling for a change is the media... I wonder why!  They need a story.

However... as a fan I think Wade Phillips is doing a great job.  But I never really understood why Jerry would bring in a "coach in waiting".   If expectaions are not met, how would promoting the current offensive co-ordinator/ assistant head coach - who was part of the problem - solve the problem.  I think Jerry messed this one up.  Perhaps he should have made Garret the head coach and bring in Phillips as co-ordinatorto fix the defense. I know why Wade is the coach... he was brought in to fix the 3-4 defense that the big Tuna left half baked. When he gets it clicking he's gone and Jason Garret is in.  Hardly makes sense to me.  But then that's why I sell plumbing and not GM of an NFL franchise. I'm just a fan that scratches his head  sometimes at what he sees.

I know that the head coach is the guy that always gets the ax.. but remember that the head coach puts the assistants in place to do the real coaching.  The head coach is the glue that keeps them all together.  How many of the assistants on staff are actually Wade's guys or are they Jerry's guys?  I pretty sure that when Jerry says "how 'bout this guy as a position coach or co-ordinator"  not too many people will disagree with the owner/gm/ceo/guy who signs the paycheck.

I agree that Pete Pissco does not know what he talks about most of the time. He just likes to stir the pot. I think that Wade is a very good coach.

That being said, Jerry Jones is weird enough to do something like Pete said. Jerry Jones knows how to make money, but I will never agree that he is real Football savvy. Jerry is the George Steinbrenner of Football.

Hey,

CBS is hiring!!!

All you have to do is move to South FLA.   Yes   you could do better.  My DOG could do better and SHE doesn't know anything about football.

I'm sorry.  This is piling on.  Its not that I disagree with what was written.  Its not that I'm a Cowboy fan (I'm not).

My IQ dropped 15 points just from reading this tripe.  Just imagine how much Pete's dropped from writing it!

He is insulting.  He has no purpose, no useful information, andthe age of the info that he has troubling.

Did he write this piece prior to the end of last year's PRE season?  Is his brain stuck in a time warp?

This site needs more guys like Dave Richards.  Dave obviously puts a lot of work and research into his pieces.  Pete, here, thinks we're all stupid and will read any kind of garbage that he puts out because HE put it out.  I will be reading his stuff from now on so that I can complain about how inane it is.  Then I will look around at the sponsors on the screen and refuse to do business with them until Pete actually starts to work for his money.

I am, after all, the customer.  At the end of the day, the customer, right or wrong, IS the customer.

You people need to read more carefully. Prisco was saying that's what the critics of Phillips have been saying. He began that paragraph by saying "SOME blamed Phillips for Tony Romo soaking up the sun..."Just because he doesn't begin every sentence with "Phillips' critics say..." does not mean he has stopped talking about what the critics of Phillips say; he need only mention that at the beginning of a paragraph. It's called continuity of ideas. If you're going to criticize someone's writing, at least make sure you've read it carefully...geez

Everyone talks about how Prisco sucks, but he has a job writing about football, none of you do. The facts are some newspapers and radio hosts HAVE called for Garrett to take over. He's not wrong about that. Just because some fans here don't think this
