Yeah - just to cut off the hate emails that will follow, as you said in your post Belichik already admitted to the league that he has been taping since he came to the Patriots, he got fined and suspended. This Matt Walsh stuff is evidence of what was admitted to, so it's basically a non-story.
So, let's go back to all the posts about people upset about the 49ers getting caught....again, or the Broncos....oh, wait - nobody has been harping on those teams.

I still find it amazing how many people on various sites (espn.com, etc) saw this news and were calling for further fines and/or suspensions levied against the Patriots.
The bottom line, as was pointed out, is that the tapes turned over by Matt Walsh were from 2000-2002, and DID NOT inlcude the Rams walkthrough. B.B. already admitted to the NFL that he had been taping signals since he joined the Patriots in 2000, apparently told the league what he had done, and turned over all of his tapes. The tapes Walsh turend over, while they may be new, very likely could also be just copies of tapes that have already been turned over. In either case, this is something that BB and the Pats have already been punished for. So unless Walsh has further evidence proving something that BB had previously denied to the Commish, don't expect any further actions.

Patriots fans. My Chargers were a mighty 8-8 in 02. The Pats have been really, really good since 2001. Why did the coach of a very talented team feel they needed to tape a very average Chargers team? Just doesn't make any sense?
The Chargers tape shows raw footage, Levy said, of the San Diego coaches from the Patriots’ sideline, followed by a shot of the scoreboard showing time, down and distance. The tape contains no footage of actual plays during the game, only the sequence, which the Patriots could match to play tape.
The other seven tapes are more sophisticated. They show shots of the opposing coaches’ signals, followed immediately by a shot of the play, usually from the end zone camera, Levy said.
The tape from the A.F.C. championship game is the most extensive, showing two angles of each play.

BoltsNut...There are many things that can be garnered from tapes (yes, EVEN those taken from the allowed positions). What is the situation on the field, be it 1st & 10, 4th & long or whetever, from your own 5 or the opposing teams 5. Whats the time and score. Then what does that coordinator call for a play? How well do the players adapt to last second changes. The opposing team can adapt the next year (or whenever) OR hire those coaches or coordinators if they are calling good plays. Or keep certian players on the free agent radar screen. It was Obviously not for instantanious results but long term. And probably minutia, but wouldn't you prefer a head coach that is paying attention to the smallest detail toprepare his team with or improve histeam or coaching staff in the future?

I understand the minutia and the ramifications of why and what for they would do it.
AND you'll never convince me that it was not for instantaneous conversion into facts pertaining to that game...The Patriots and Chargers play maybe once every 3 years Unless they meet in the playoffs. The whole team could be alot different in 3 years. Not to mention coaches and philosophy.
The fact that the tapes were made from an illegal position furthers the feeling all fans are going to have of the Patriots coaching and leadership.
My only question regarding this illegal taping is why would a defending SB team feel compelled to do this activity against a very mediocre (at that time) team? If I was a player on that team I'd be questioning my coaches dedication and beliefs in his own players abilities...C'mon coach, we can win without the cheating

let me point out the fact that although the Patriots had tapes of SD, doesn't mean they obtained them illegaly. They ARE allowed to tape, but as Goodall stated back in September, they took all the tapes and notes because they couldn't be sure which ones were legal or not. The ONLY illegal tape that I know about is the 2007 Jets game where they were caught. But Goodall fined them for the whole situation.
If I was a player on that team I'd be questioning my coaches dedication and beliefs in his own players abilities
no you wouldn't...you'd be sitting right there, watching game film with your team mates and listening to what the coaches have to say, and tell you what you need to be doing to put you in a position to be successfull and QUESTIONING NOTHING.
AND you'll never convince me that it was not for instantaneous conversion into facts pertaining to that game...
And you'll never convince me that it was ever used in THAT game. Theres no way it can happen within the givin time frame.
