Is that Buffalo is the source for Philly's success because they supplied Biron and Briere. As much as I love the Sabres, losing both players was an absolutely awful move. Larry Quinn (who is almost solely responsible for losing Briere and Drury) needs to be fired or completely reevaluate his negotiating strategy.

Consider Philly stealing Biron and Briere as payback for Buffalo kicking our asses the past several years in the playoffs. I remember several embarrassing beat downs by Buffalo in the playoffs.

Hows it going over there now? lol

Lets go Flyers, lets go!!

laser, I completely agree, what was the GM thinking letting go of all the good young talent there?  I hope for the Sabre's sake there is some grand master plan that just hasn't unfolded yet, but doubt this is the case

Not the source, but some great help.  Mike Richards led the team in points, Jeff Carter was #5...they're number 4 and 5 in the playoffs, Umberger is #3....

It's so nice to see a hater want to grab a slice of some other team's success because a player might have come from their team.  Actually, you could point to all of that and say it's all Canada's success since almost all hockey players come from there.

Also, you can't blame it all on your crappy ownership or FO, blame the Flyers great ownership and FO...they're the ones that convinced those players to come here and then the team around them grew and prospered.  You have to understand, Flyers organization knows how to build teams and attract players to this extremely close-knit high class franchise.  Their loyalty to their players is among the best in the NHL, and many players, past and present will attest to that.

Exactly, Laser.  I was just about to start a topic saying that the Flyers can thank Buffalo's inept management, but you beat me to it.  The Sabres got jack in return for Biron and Briere (Briere, of couse, leaving through free agency).

And yet the Sabres gave how much to Vanek?  $70 mil or something like that?  The guy had some great games this season, but the money would have been better put to use with Briere and/or Drury.

I am impressed with the Flyers turnaround this season, don't get me wrong.  However, you Flyers fans know you have the Sabres organization to thank.  So...you're welcome.

Actually, there are a lot more former Predators on the Flyers than Sabres in Scott Hartnell, Kimmo Timmonen and Scottie Upshall.  Accordingly, we consider the Flyers as Predators East.....

No, we KNOW that we have the FLYERS organization to thank for this turnaround.  Yes, they have been previous Sabres players, but especially in Briere's case, he wanted to go to a team with great ties to it's players and a dedication to winning.  Even if I hated the Flyers, and were given the choice between Buffalo and Philadelphia, I would choose Philadelphia.  Just shut your traps already and turn off those lightbright boxes you guys call a brain, the Flyers organization made the moves to get what they did, Buffalo made some bad ones...but you CAN'T TAKE AWAY ANYTHING FROM THE FLYERS FRANCHISE FOR THE MOVES THEY MADE.  IT'S CALLED DEDICATION TO WINNING, SOMETHING THE BUFFALO SABRES OWNERSHIP DOES NOT HAVE!
