What this fool neglects to tell everyone is that I started a thread on the Cowboys board, its labeled backdabluestar is the worst person on CBS, and there you can see that even his own cowgirl "members" didnt even defend him, one actually agree'd with me that he is a punk and wants him off the board. Says a lot about this boy...
Brokeback, no need to use caps bud, doesnt make you sound any more tough then your not, and it gets no point across, but now that I actually read your post, your not even making a point.
Lucky a$$ super bowl? Hmmm....if as in lucky you mean beat the best teams in football to get to the bowl and win the ring.
Hey guys, what does it mean when you beat the best teams in football?
Also I love how you use the word tramp....must be a southern yokle thing....does that actually insult people down there when you call them that.....cause I'm not sure what calling a Football player a tramp means or is suppossed to do....
Beat it kid, go back to cleaning up your cow crap, cleaning the horses, feeding the pigs, or gathering all the chickens eggs

Hey backdabluestar you ever consider dating Romo. Maybe Buck or Aikman will comment about how Romo's boyfriend is at the playoff game as he chokes again. Look on the bright side at least you'll be on T.V. Or you could become a Giants fan since they probably got the league locked down for 5 to 10 lol

Dear Gayboii;
- Yes I called him dumb. How dumb do you have to be to challange me to come on your board, WHEN I'M ALREADY THERE ON THE THREAD I STARTED STUPID.
- Yes I laughed at my amusing comments, because I can and because your girlfriend, Tikis/Barney laughs at his also,..............is there some rule that says you can't think something you say is funny?
- As predicted you're fighting his battle for him, I just wondered which of you would jump in first.
From this day forward your new name anytime you come to our board is "The Beav" for the little crying thread you created like someone was going to make me stop slapping you around. Laughing Out Loud (is that better).
Tikis is still going to be Barney because he's a loud mouth who is scared of his own shadow. Remind your girlfriend, that I have already started a thread on your board and the title, you should know it well because it names you among others as the tramps I continue to slap around as disciplinary action for starting threads on the Cowboys board about none-sense, because your girlfriend can't win his own battles on his own board, by himself.
None of my comrades are going to back you up or make me stop slapping you around so get used to it.

Dear imripe;
Yes teams get lucky and yes teams beat themselves.
- The Steelers "Immaculate Catch in the 70's,
- The 106 yard FG Nick Folk kicked,
- The gifted INT/TD that was originally a deflected pass that ended up in the arms of a lineman who waltzed into the endzone, (this happened to other teams during the season also),
- The supposedly blocked FG kick that later was overturned because it was determined that the ball even though it hit the goal post, it hit after it technically crossed the goal post-line which made it a FG
- The Dallas/St. Louis game in which a botched snapped which should have been a very long loss was turned into a first down because Barber was alert enough to block for Romo down field just enough to accomplish a first down.
- And finally the Superbowl in which a ball is caught by smashing a junk pass on a helmet to maintain possession.
All examples of how "luck" had everything to do with those plays and nothing more. Teams that have beat themselves;
- The Bears did it in their Superbowl appearance
- The Cardinals did it when they blew the lead they had in that regular season against the Bears.
- The Bears continued that mistake by allowing Grossman to continue ill advised deep passing routes.
- The Eagles blew a whole season by installing McNabb too early after rehabbing his injury.
- The Titans did it in a game against Dallas where Haynesworth stepped on Gurode's head in frustration after a play,...........it turned out to cost them on the ensuing drive.
- Reeves did it against you chumps by adding 15 yards on a penalty that had it not happened would have lmited the Giants to a FG merely because there was not enough time to make two long strikes down field in the first half.
- The G-Strings did themselves in on the second game of the regular season sweep by numerous false starts, unnecessary roughness calls, and face mask on TO.
So yes teams do get lucky and sometimes they can beat themselves. Whether you like that or not or admit it or not matters not but you won't tell me you simply were the better team in that play-off game when I and every other Cowboys fan knows it was the Reeves penalty that let you in the game at all, and that the very lucky catch, by Tyree helped win you the Superbowl.
No teams currently practice the ole "catch the ball by smashing against the helmet", trick unless of course you have some file footage where the Giants practice that catch regularly in mini-camps or pre-season. LoL
I know you'll take the win because it's not going to happen again and it's all the bragging fuel you've got, and,...........it's the only time you'll get to brag about the Giants being better than the Cowboys for years to come.
You have to know that sooner or later the Cowboys will get that sixth ring and when they do it's going to make this Superbowl you won insignificant, and you hate just the prospect of that.

Backdabluestar,
Finally a well written, well thought out response that didn't require profanity or insults about other people's "Boyfriends". Doesn't it feel good to be taken seriously? You are correct. Teams get lucky and teams get unlucky. It's all part of the game and the psyche of the teams. Your point about the Giants being lucky in the playoffs, but being unlucky in the 2nd game of the season against the Cowboys has validity. Teams make their own luck. The more confidence a team has in itself and its ability to win, the more "luck" a team appears to have.
My father was a Cowboys fan when I was growing up and we used to battle all the time. We would make our yearly pilgrimage to Giants Stadium to see the Giants/Cowboys game. When the Giants were abysmal and the Cowboys were great, I thought the Cowboys were the luckiest team in the NFL and the Giants the unluckiest.
In this case, the Cowboys were rolling through the season when they met up with the Giants. They had confidence that the Giants didn't have at that point that they could win no matter what. When you don't have that confidence, and things go wrong, players react and not always in a positive way. This is why there are stupid penalties and teams fall apart when they could pull together and win.
So back to your point. . . The Giants played their @sses off to win the game against a superior (on paper) Dallas team. Did they get lucky? It's not the Reeves penalty that was lucky for the Giants, or the dropped pass Crayton had. Those two events spoke more to the psyche of the Cowboys that couldn't pull it together to win a game everyone thought they should have before the game. The Giants responded to the penalty by taking advantage of another chance to drive down the field and score. That's not luck, that's acting like a champion. And you see the same reactions from every team you can call champion. You cannot give them any extra chances to score or you will lose.
Are the Cowboys a good team. Of course. Will they win in the playoffs? It remains to be seen. Are the Giants a good team? Yes they are the Champions of last season. Will they win in the playoffs? Again, we wait and see. As a fan, I hope they do. If the Cowboys win the Superbowl next year, how does that render this years Superbowl win insignificant? By that logic, when the Giants won it this year, it negated every Superbowl win the Cowboys have had, yes all 5 wins.
As far as Tyree's catch being lucky, it would have been lucky if he turned around and the ball lodged itself into his facemask without him using his hands at all. His catch in the Superbowl was a testament to his will to catch the ball and not make a mistake like drop the ball, or let it touch the ground, or have it stripped away by the defender. That is the mark of a winner, not luck.
The Giants won the playoff game against the Cowboys because they were the better team because they were able to take advantage of mistakes made by the Cowboys and the Cowboys were not. Their heads were in a better position to win than the Cowboys' heads.
Good luck next year.

Skill is Tyree just out right over powers and out muscles Harrison the same way Barber out powered him. Luck is that Tyree was able to hang on without the ball touching the down.
There was his will but there was luck in that he was even able to hang on considering there was a fight for the ball all the way to the ground and that the ball "happened" not to touch the turf. If you look at the replay, it was shear luck (not his skill) that it did not touch the ground. He had no way of knowing even himself if it touched the ground and he said that in numberous interviews about the catch.
To recap;
- 34 seconds left- Pass by Manning to Smith from the Dallas 49 to the Dallas 38, fifteen yard facemask enforced at the 38 advancing the ball to the Dallas 23
- 28 sec's left incomplete pass to Burress (deep down the middle)
- 21 sec's left incomplete pass up the middle (short up the middle)
- 17 sec's left completed pass to Boss for 19 yards.
- 11 sec's left completed 4 yard pass for TD.
How much clearer can it be made that 15 yards with 11 seconds left puts NY at the Dallas 19 and decreases the chance that they would have gone for it a third time in the endzone with the short luck they were having getting passes down field and with the little amount of time left.
I just proved why the Reeves penalty is what even let you back in the game at all. This is not the same as letting a team hang around as Parcells used to put it during the second halves of games.
You're talking 11 seconds and a free 15 yard advance which you can't prove but I just showed you that it was this that was the turning point in the game,............the penalty was well out of bounds it wasn't the Giants just dominating.
The penalty occurring out of bounds tells the whole story. It was a needless penalty that helped Dallas lose an edge they had. The rest of the game shows that the Giants never had some decidely over powering advantage over the Cowboys as the Cowboys on the ensuiing drive when you thought they were pinned, drove 62 yards unyielded by the Giants to score a FG is that not correct?
So I have proven that had not the penalty occurred, the Giants would most likely have been able with 11 seconds left conceed to a FG giving you 10 instead of 14, and that the ensuiing drive in which the Cowboys went literally with ease 62 yards for a FG in their first possession in the 3rd Qtr means the TD the Giants get after that would only have tied the game at 17 all going into the 4th Qtr.
The Cowboys ability to get down field repeatedly at least to FG range not only during that game but during every other game they played this season proves that having the last possession of this game, they most likely would have ended the game by a FG with a score or 20-17. If you'll recall the Cowboys reached the NYG 23 before being intercepted which proves my point that they could easily have won that game by said FG,..............all this is negated by the Reeves penalty which gives NY a TD instead of quite possible holding them to a FG at the first half.
Teams can beat themselves as I have just proven.

Backdabluestar,
I just proved why the Reeves penalty is what even let you back in the game at all.
I wasn't debating that with you. I understand that. It is the better team that can take advantage of a miscue as the Giants did. I understand the ramifications of this needless penalty which allowed the TD by the Giants. It is part of the ebb and flow of a game. It is a change in momentum.
Teams can beat themselves as I have just proven.
I understand this point too and do not debate it. I didn't need to you prove that the Cowboys beat themselves. It is a better team that doesn't beat themselves.
Like I stated before, the Giants were the better team because they were able to take advantage of the Cowboys miscues. The Cowboys heads were not in it as much as the Giants'. The Giants believed and the Cowboys didn't, and when bad things happened, they couldn't overcome. That is not the mark of a champion.
Now, I am willing to concede that the Cowboys have a talented team, young and somewhat inexperienced. Romo hasn't won a playoff game because he is young. It took Manning 3 years of failed playoffs to win his first one. I have no doubt Romo will win some playoff games, once he is ready and his head is in it. But understand that the Giants won in the playoffs and the Superbowl because there was no quit in them. They believed and had confidence that they could win no matter what. How does that make them lucky or Dallas the better team? In my book, the team that prevails regardless of circumstance is the better team.
In the NFL, there is very little difference from one player to another in ay position. The players that rise to the top have the mind and heart for football, not intelligence, but the will to overcome, to break the tackle, to dive head first into a pile without a helmet, to do whatever it takes to score. The others may be more athletic but without the will to overcome, they give up, become frustrated, commit stupid penalties, and underperform. When an entire team behaves in this way, it is the coach which encourages this behavior and this behavior feeds itself, self perpetuating amongst the other players until the team becomes of one mind, one will. That is a "team" in the truest sense and a team like that is difficult to beat, even with better, more athletic players.
Give the Giants their due. Their victory was hard fought as well as their season. They overcame many injuries and replaced experienced players with rookies and still achieved the same results. Losing Shockey everyone | |
