How much faith do you have that Rex Grossman can be the quarterback the Bears have wanted him to be?

He was great the first few games (averaging a 121 QB rating), then fell apart (23.6 QB rating avg) and has been inconsistant since.

I havew more faith in Orton than I do Grossman, and have money on Orton coming out number 1 and ending the season there.

I don't think Rex needs to die, but he is not a starter.

Those first 5-6 games in 2006 were unbelievable.  But teams adjusted and Grossman has not adjusted back - defenses figured out that they need to put pressure up the middle.  He cannot see over it and he is not fast enough to get out of the pocket.  And he locks onto his receivers way too early.
That being said, anyone would have had trouble behind that O-line last year.

Now Cedric Benson?? That guy needs to go.

Hawksfan.

I have never called anyone this on the site but, to have a choice of "Rex needs to die" adds up to you being a complete and utter IDIOT

Rex doesn't need to die, but how about a season ending injury about now. Orton needs to be the confirmed starter, then allow him to run the offense. Get Ron Turner to keep open the hole play book for him this time around.

Next step, find a QB on the wire or in a trade. One of the undrafted free agents will be the third guy any way.

wow! replies that make since.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who believes that with an open playbook from the beginning, a few reps, and half the faith they've given Rex, Kyle could run this offense.  And IMO the benefits would be overflowing.

fewer turnovers=defense on the field less=fewer defensive injuries=better defensive chemistry=fewer blown assignments=fewer opponent points=WE WIN MORE GAMES=

PRICELESS!!!

Grossman will easily beat out Orton in the competition and be the starter.  People who know football know that Rex can make every throw on the field.  He still has not had a decent group of players around him to play to his potential.  Berrian made Grossman look bad on a lot plays by not running the right routes, or turning the wrong way, or giving up on a route all together.  I counted at least six of Grossmans interceptions in the last 2 seasons due to Berrian mistakes which were not talked about and Rex took all the blame.  Moose was slow and could not get separation.  Way too many drops from all these guys.

People talk about Groosman locking in on one reciever.  Nobody could get open so whats the difference?

No blocking up front to have the time to find an open reciever.
No pocket to step up into when the rush is coming from up the gut.
Ron Turner.
No running game.

How would Peyton Manning have faired with no pocket? Brady? Anyone?

Rex still played well even with all of these problems around him.  Next season will be interesting because the Bears have added alot of talent to the offense.  He will have one final and fair chance that he is truly  the Bears franchise QB.  This is why he is still here.

Bear Down!!

Yeah but Grossman still holds his wrists half a foot apart when taking snaps. He still can't see over the OL, he still can't step up into a pocket. He still can't really buy time with his feet. These are all things I have seen Orton do, and is capable of. Grossman loses out, take it to the bank.
