Ding! A walk off 2 run homer last night in the 10th with 2 outs and down by one.

Alright Pat. What's the catch? Is it just that it is a contract year? Are you out of the bars and at home with the new wife? Perhaps you have been posessed? Something happened last all-star game to you. It can't last, right? My guess is it might be all three, but if I had to guess the reasons above it would go A, C, B.

So what should the Phils do with this career underachiever that has been on fire since July? He makes a preposterous $14 mil or so this season, but then he is a FA. Some people might want him for that missing bat this year. Others may need the cap relief. Pat could finally be worth something, but do the Phils need him now more than ever?

I would like them to resign the guy because I really like him....and that's not just because he's having a good year.  I've always liked the guy.  He's got a great attitude with the fans and he's always hustling and putting forth the effort.  Since the last All Star Break, he's finally now putting it all together it seems.

But I don't think you can trade him at this point.  He's too important to the team.  They need that big bat in the middle of the lineup because Ryan Howard has just been flat out bad.

For those unaware (or puzzle like myself) today Pat sits

3rd in the MLB with 9 dingers

1 with 28 RBIs

and is hitting a smooth .330.

Who is this man? Maybe he has new contacts that makes all oppsing players appear in Mets uniforms.

Lucked out so far, anne.

Tark, what if you could get a young arm with a little upside that could bounce Eaton off the starting 5? Maybe even get a 3 with 2 potential down the road? Then have Jenkins play full time LF like he did most of his career. Howard seems to start like this and then comes alive (we hope). The rotation should be where they are concerned, not runs.

Red,
I just think that Burrell right now is the heart and soul of the team (along with Utley).  But Burrell is also apparently great in the clubhouse and the entire team loves him.  Moving him, although it may help the pitching, might mess with the team chemistry.

Howard may come around or he may not.  Jenkins would be decent in the outfield, but I don't think he can be "the guy" like Burrell is right now.  I don't want to rely on hoping that Howard comes around, because at this point, who knows what happens with him.

Yeah, I know the guys like him and for some reason he's always loved being in Philly despite his usual (un)welcome over the past decade. Right now I'm thrilled to have him, it just two things

1-will it last? The potential is there. He isn't a flash in the pan talent wise, just mentality wise.

2-I prayed for years he would do this so someone would take him. Now he's finally maintained his value for some time and I'm torn.

1 with 28 RBIs

Josh Hamilton has 32 RBI's, Burrell is 2nd though.
