After Crean's and Pearl's moves, are the collegiate coaches finally holding the "student"-athletes responsible for their actions?  What a shock that would be...

Hopefully, as a Vol fan this may hurt the team but I am glad he did it b/c in my opinion the Vols will be better without these two.. GO VOLS!!!!

I'm glad that some coaches are holding their players accountable. I think that todays college athletes feel they are owed something. I'm not a Pearl fan but I do respect him for this.

Go Gators!!!

Jurevicious you're a typical UT fan. I live in Knoxville and i'm sick of you morons. Most of you ,but not all, try to put a positive spin on everything. In case you didn't notice two of our better players got kicked off and two of our leaders left due to graduation. So no this does not make UT better. Moron, idiot, stupid, stop drinking the orange gatorade and take of the orange glasses and stop painting your little redneck/mullet son's room orange. Now I'm expecting you to put a positive spin on those insults.

dark916 - good job, BUT Bruce pearl is a good coach and from watching him from my spot on the west coast I think that Vols can have at the very least decent teams if he's coaching no matter how highly rated his players are coming out of high school.

These 2 cases of Crean and Pearl are great, but it's way to premature to say that many college coaches will be doing this really soon.

I agree but I still hope that other coaches quickly realize that it's good to focus on the school's reputation and not just on winning a few more games in one season.

But I guess this all depends on how the boosters react and whether they applaud the coaches or force them out because of those extra few losses.

smith should transfer to michigan, it looks like the school will take any football or basketball player who might help it win. the school does everything it can to help ( see new york times article ) or why even go to class ( see manningham ).

Dark,

Anger Management Dude!

Knoxville doesn't have any other sport outlet except UT sports, so give them a break if they love their orange.

The dismissals will hurt depth, but both R. Smith and D. Crewse were only going to be backups.  The loss of Smith and Lofton to graduation on the other hand, is why TN will have to retool.

With Tyler Smith as the focal point, the Vols should be decent if they can find some guard play next year.

I have to go - need to finish painting my boys room orange....

Way to go Bruce Pearl!  I congratulate what you did and what Les Miles did at LSU.  It is good to see coaches holding players accountable.
