Lito could have skipped out on mini-camp, whined about his contract, and demanded a trade immediately. But he didn't. He's approaching this awkward situation with dignity and class- something we don't see too often these days in the NFL.  If anything, he has further endeared himself to the Philly phaithful. I hope the Eagle's brass take his actions in consideration when they finally determine his fate.

Hell yea, after sitting back and watching Lito's actions this offseason he deserves a PHAT contract... he is extremely good on the field, and maybe now with Asante he can get more snaps off a allow his body to be correct as apposed to playing every down. I love Lito so hopefullyy we keep these three CBs.

Much Respect to Lito-Honestly I wanted to keep him.(Even more after Wash draft picks) His great attitude and outlook combined with a healthy year and he will get what he desires. Our secondary is going to be the best in the league! If you sleeping on Lito just look @ any Dallas game he has played in!

Look I love the fact that Lito Sheppard maned up and showed up for camp.  But that is his job.  It is his job to show up for practice and mini camps that is what they pay him for.  Is he a top ten corner when healthy? Yeah he deffinitely is, but when is he healthy anymore.  If they keep him this year then that is great because then the Eagles will have the Best defensive backfield in the whole league.  But dont expect him to get some big bucks for the Eagles because he is probably going to be the nickel corner this season if he is here and that wont get him the big bucks or make him happy.  Maybe he shouldnt have signed the extension when they offered it to him.  I hate when players sign contracts and then bitch about them 2 years later.  It is a done deal.  He wasnt bitchen when he got his 8 million up front.  I hope he stays but i also hope that the Eagles dont budge.

the birds21 got it right...the situation is not awkward he is under contract so he belongs in camp he got his 8 mil up front when he signed the deal in 04...i would love to keep lito cuz i am a fan i think he is a top tier corner(he is better than brown who's better suited for the 3rd corner role)but let things work themselves out if he really wants to be an eagle...

Not only is it a "classy" move, it is a smart move by Lito Sheppard.  He is showing that he will fufill the commitment he made to the Eagles and that he won't force their and make a difficult situation impossible.  Whether he stays or goes his value has gone up and he will be rewarded for it one way or another in the long-run.

But that is his job.  It is his job to show up for practice and mini camps that is what they pay him for.

I whole-heartedly agree with that statement, but the unfortunate thing is that the norm is for the players to skip camp and hold out.  Which makes doing what you're suppose to do seems like an honorable thing.

I still give my props to Lito.  He knows these things always work themselves out eventually and he's making an effort not to gain a bad reputation as a selfish player.

Must be that incredible schooling he received and the spectacular coaching during his formative years.

Actually, Lito has always been a class act. He did his job. Even though I agree that's what he was SUPPOSED to do, it is refreshing and deserves praise. He hasn't made himself a distraction to the team. Very few "star" players have that ability.

Kudos Lito!

I'll never forget the look he put on Lou holtz's face when he returned a punt for a TD to close out the 1st half and a huge comeback by the Gators. He mad 2 cuts, guys tackling air, and smoked everyone on the field. As he blew by Lou gaping on the sidelines, you saw the breeze ruffle ol Lou's polo. It was priceless.

the birds21 said it best... he needs to stay healthy to be able to earn the big bucks..maybe if he plays 16 games this season and does good, he can b**ch about his contract... he has no leverage when he has been hurt most of the time... plus he knows the Eagles won't let go of him unless some team comes up with a first rounder... Reid doesn't mind keepin him at his current salary... and that will make our secondary one of the best although i do think dawkins has lost a step and we need groom a replacement for him fast... the linebackers are experienced but I think they did well last year..and should hope that they do better...
I think we'll have a good defense this year... but the biq question is still the offense... bottom line is we need to get mcnabb a big #1 receiver... before its too late...
