We all know that Tampa has about 8 QB's on their roster and at some point someone's going to get cut, released or requested a trade. If it happens to be Chris Simms - do you guys think the Bears should make a serious run at getting this guy? IMO - A heathly Chris Simms is an upgrade to what the Bears have now! What do you guys think?

dat_dude, everything I'm hearing is saying that the Bears will have Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton compete for the starting job in 2008 and have Nick Hill and Caleb Hanie compete for the third string spot (the loser will then go to the practice squad). So, I think that means Chris Simms, or any Buccaneers QB that gets cut, probably won't get looked at. But, you never know. That's just my opinion.
IMO - A heathly Chris Simms is an upgrade to what the Bears have now!
Are you sure about that? He's had less on field experience than both Rex and Kyle. In fact, he hasn't stepped on a field since 2006. I know he helped Tampa get to the playoffs the year before his injury, but Kyle did the same thing. As for Rex, he has deeper playoff experience, and his numbers are SLIGHTLY better than Simms. I really think that if he signed here, it would just be ANOTHER QB on the long list of letdowns.

I know he hasn't stepped on the field since 06 but as you said he helped Tampa get to the playoffs and while helping Tampa get to the playoffs he wasn't "restricted" (if you want to say) as Orton was during his rookie season. And even during the game he got hurt just the leadership and heart he showed in the game was incredible and that alone could be the spark on offense that the Bears need. Also his rating is about the same as both Orton and Grossman but he is completing almost 60% of his passes. Where Grossman and Orton are just over 50%. And with that 60% the game can be "managed" by the QB instead of lost because of or won inspite of. Yes the oline and running game was bad last year but QB has ALWAYS been an issue!

Chris Simms might be interesting option, but only if he's released from Bucks, there's no point in trading for him, but even if he's released, there are quite a few teams that will be looking for his services (VIkes, Lions, Panthers,...), so his value might not be worthy the cap hit of his contract, especially since Bears jet have to resign Tommie Harris, Devin Hester, Robbie Gould, Mark Anderson, and renegotiate contract with Brian Urlacher.
