It all started last year, just a game or two before Salazar was called up to the DBacks. A friend and I were at the Tucson Sidewinders one night and Salazar's younger brother was seated a row in front of us, along with either his or Jeff Salazar's girlfriend, and across the aisle but rooting hard for his bro when he came to bat. So, it was natural to also root for him. He may have had one hit that night, I don't remember, but the image that will always remain with me was a ball (he was playing CF that night) that was over his head and against the wall. I couldn't beleive what I saw! He not only raced and jumped hard against the wall, so hard you could actually hear him smack it from the stands, having actually run part way up the wall at the same time. He did not make the catch but he made me an instantaneous fan of his. When he got called up, I was thrilled for him. Then he got sent back down and I was praying he would get recalled, which he did and then made some noise while solidifying himself as a backup player.
When reading how he thought he had made the Rockies team, only to be released, I only rooted for him that much harder. I just like his entire demeanor but mostly his outragous hustle which shows his obvious love for the game. An underdog and a winner! Tonight, he made me proud again to be one of his biggest fans.

Jeff Salazar plays good defense, and he always gives it his all. He may not be the best player on the Diamondbacks, but he always does things that make him useful to the team.
For example, this catch that he made last year to rob Brian Giles of a home run. These are the type of things that we expect from Salazar- an all-out effort to help the team.
He even chipped in with a 2-run homer today. Keep it up, Jeff!

He is truely a great #4 outfielder. I think his amazing play last year will always be remembered as one of the best in Dbacks history. I like him off the bench like Clark last year; two different players, but both valuable in spot situations.

Salazar is great...his catch last year to rob Giles was amazing. He had a huge HR last night against the Dodgers which helped us get the win. He is always a good player off the bench and is always useful when he gets a start.

Yeah he has great defense alright, he played a good game of hacky-sack with the Geoff Blum 3-run double on 4/29. I'd rather put massive bodied Carlos Lee in left than watch Salazar choke in key opportunities.

Sour grapes nocturnal!
As a Houston Astro fan you did not have the oportunity to watch Slazar play for us last year. In fact, his one catch, doing an imitation of Spideman to bring back an over the wall home run off Brian Giles bat, was so sensational it was voted the best defensive play of the year. His clutch pinch-hit, 3 run homer in San Francisco last year, in late September, gave our team such a lift at a critical time, that there were few, if any, more timely hits.
It is sad when know nothings and poor losers like yourself, come in here and rag on other teams. But, that is what iconclasts and losers do and so why should you be any different. Nighty night loser...lol
Jeff Salazar rocks!!!

That was last year, and I'm pointing out that he is overrated and as for the D-backs who are currently the best in both leagues you are going to have a guy out there that is going to commit senseless errors against struggling teams like the Astros. Many outfielders can rob homeruns if they are given the time to get up the wall, and as far as the clutch 3-run homerun for one it was against the Giants who were awful, and have a horrible bullpen. two, if it was in chase field it means nothing. It is like a homerun into the Crawford boxes, it isn't a real homerun.

Boy an over-rated 4th outfielder. That is not an easy thing to do. You are really desperate if you are knocking a guy who might only play once a week. If Jeff Salazar is our only weakness.....I think I'll buy my world Series tickets now. LOL
