didn't this school learn for the D-Rod fiasco??
seriously. if huggins has one great year the chances of him bolting to an ACC school or a Kansas etc. are quite high.
i guess all that father dauthter brother sister love has = poor admin decisions.

you might be wrong on this one. Bob Huggins has coached at KSU and Cincinnati, and he is not particularly welcome at the bigger name schools due to his history with alcohol and low test scores. But that is not the crux of the issue.
Huggins grew up in West Virginia, and went to WVU. It is his alma matter. Much like Roy Williams going back to Carolina, Huggins is there to stay. This is his dream job. Congrats to Huggins, who has found his place, and to WVU, for paying him accordingly.

why would he want to leave his alma mater? and the Big East is the best conference in basketball. You need your head reevaluated buddy.

You sound like we did when D-Rod was thinking about leaving for Michigan: it's his alma mater; he's from here, etc. It is a one way street in college sports contracts(coaches have hte control), so I have no clue why we continue to sign 11 and 12 contracts giving up all of our leverage.

The school doesn't need to learn anything from the D-Rod fiasco, D-Rod does. The school is still entitled to the money.
So signing someone to a short term deal would improve the chance of retaining them? You must be quite a moron.

As a K-stater I have made peace with Bob Huggins, but I have not forgotten. Huggins is untrustable. He left the Cats after only one season, Bill Walker took it as a direct slap in the face. He left the best player in all of college hoops, Micheal Beasley to coach a pass oriented zone D team. To his credit he made them his team and he is an elite coach. He said that the WVU was his dream job, but yet didn't take it 10 years ago...
Would he leave? I kinda doubt it, no elite school would take him. Only KSU would give him a second chance in a power conference. He helped us regain footing on the national scene and brought in high level talent, most importantly he can coach. Something Jim Wooldridge can't do. At the time Wooldridge was bringing in some of the highest rated recruits ever at ksu, but yet no postseason and records barely over .500. Huggins takes the same team and gets them an NIT win, nuff said. To sum it up, he won't leave because nobody wants him. Only major rebuilding teams would take a gamble and I don't think he would leave the kind of cushion he has at WVU. I bet Huggins could make a winner out of St Johns. Which I think is almost impossible now. Compare the records of KSU and St Johns in 2 years, both were in similiar boats, proud programs run into the ground. I think the Huggins factor is the difference.

Huggins was a Cincinnati for quite awhile before he as fired. He did not leave, even when WVU called. He did leave KSU, but he had only been there a year and had set down no roots. So, the jury is out on wether he'll bolt if he starts winning. I would bet against it.
Having said that, people keep talking about Huggins like he's an elite coach and it's just a matter of time before WVU becomes a perineal Final Four school. Let's put all the academic and personal baggage aside and assess only his coaching record. One Final Four 15 years ago and dominating an exceptionally weak conference does not make you an elite coach.

The Big East is not the best conference in basketball. It just happened to have the most teams in the tournament this year. The Big East and the Big XII are on par with each other, in my opinion.

I base this claim on the fact that they play the best styles of basketball; that is, physical, but with skill. Team performances fluctuate, but to determine which conference(s) is best, it is important to see how effective the style of play is across the board. I put the Big East and the Big XII on par with each other because they play the best styles. Don't even bother responding, ACC fans. Your idea of defense is running defenders at people until they miss and the offense gets an easy layup.
