Sounded like Billy W is as pissed off with his teammates as most of us fans seem to be,he accused them of having no get up and go,had a pop at Perez for only being able to pitch 2+ innings and said there were problems with the SP'S the relief, hitting and fielding, sounds about right to me.

Someone needs to put a rocket up the arses of this team and if it's not coming from the obvious person (Willie Randolph) then as a senior player Wagner is right to step up to the plate.

Now we gotta hope this has the desired effect because it is possiblethat the opposite may happen and certain guys may respomd negatively.

Managers don't NEED to put fire anywhere...their job is to assist, train (coach), maintain, and mentor.

Some managers are energetic...some are not...it's preference/characteristic of style.

Maybe Willie needs to get some energy...but so do the players...someone, ANYONE needs to. Stop blaming Randolph for EVERYTHING...the blame game is childish. If Mets fans aren't blaming Willie...they will blame Delgado, Beltran, Reyes, etc...

Next thing you know we will be blaming Willie for the economy problems...
I can just see it now...

All I know is that they be ready to come come tomorrow night, Sat and Sunday as the Mets face the D-Back top 3 starters who are a combined 14-1....Owings (Spelled wrong?), Webb who is 6-0 and Haren.....

Owings had a PH HR last night.....boy this D-Back is not in 1st place for no reason....Mets must be ready or else this road trip can be a disaster....Wags maybe thought it was time to step up and say something....

We all knew that Perez has his days, and yesterday was pretty bad.....

On the other hand, the Mets put up 30 runs every time they go to Arizona, so maybe this trip is exactly what the team needs. Also getting away from the mindless booing fans won't hurt either.

Arizona is a  tough team, but one thing we have going for us is we've always played well there.  Even though it's early May, I think this is a key series.  If we take 2 of 3 there, that's huge.  If we get swept, that's also huge.

"Managers don't NEED to put fire anywhere...their job is to assist, train (coach), maintain, and mentor."

Only one problem with that theory to me, and I've been saying this since last September. Anyone who watches the Mets game in and game out can see that Willie is not exactly best "X's and O's" manager in the world, to borrow a football metaphor. That's not how he got his fat contract extension from Minaya a year and a half ago. He got it b/c his specialty was supposed to be as an intangible manager, a lot like Joe Torre. Maybe he doesn't always make the best in game decisions or set the right lineup, but he gets his guys to play hard for him. If you don't want to say he puts a fire in them, you can call it whatever you want. He gets the most out of them, he gets them to stay focused on winning, however you want to put it is fine. But whatever term you want to use, I think we can all safely say he failed miserably at it last September, and so far I feel like I'm seeing more of the same this year.

Now, some of that is the players. Their attitude has been annoying the hell out of me this year. So its not all Randolph's fault, but a large chunk of it is.

part of a mangers responsibility has to be motivation of his players and making sure he gets the very best possible out of these players, different guys need different methods of motivation but if the players are turning out every night  not  motivated then the manager has to try everything he knows to change that ,if he isn't successful then either he or the player has to go

Randolph needs to get this team into better shape otherwise its going to be another last year at the end of the season. None of the Big Mets fans wanna see it happen but it will if he doesn't do anything about it now before it gets anyworse, there screwed. They neeed to get another big bat on the team since there is only 2 people really hitting well on the team. a team consists of everyone working together but right now half the team is slacking. They should ake a trade to get another Hitter cause its really what they need, since they aren't sure when they will ever have the team at full health. So they gotta make a big deal happen soon so they can be a big contender again for the World Series.

Someone needs to show some emotion.  Wether it's Willie, Wright, Reyes,  Perez, Maine it doesn't matter who just someone.  Was anyone disappointed with the reaction from David Wright the other night?  (Now I'm not bashing him in anyway, I love Wright)  He gets up in the bottom of the 11th, after going 0-5 or 0-4, and drills a ball into the right field corner to win the game and as I watched him lazily jogging down to first I thought to myself, is he even happy they won?  I don't expect him to go crazy as if it's the WS but it's still a game winning hit in a game that we needed to win.  It seems as if since 2006 this team as gotten some kind of sense of entitlement and seem to be bored wether they win or lose.  Someone needs to remind these guys that they're not the best team in the NL unless they go out and play like it.  Wagner tends to rub people the wrong way so while he wouldn't be my first choice for a vocal leader on this team, he may be the only one with enough cajones to stand up and do it.  I wish we could bring back some of the Mets from the 80's and put them on the bench, maybe that way this team will show some personality.

I give Wagner credit he is the only pitcher that really stepped up this year and only had 1 bad outing....He needs to get Perez fired up cause sometimes he acts like a child. He has the right tools it just that he can get very wild at times. Its also very early i think when the weather gets better maine and perez will have better control.

It's about time somebody says something to stir things up.  This team reminds me so much of last years team, I dont think they've learned anything from the collapse.  Randolph should be sounding off not Wagner.  Willie is just as bad as his players.  I'm getting sick and tired of watching this team.  If they fall behind you might as well consider them done.. They have no fight.

the fact that pretty much EVERY met fan is saying the same thing about this team not having any excitement should be prove positive number one that there is a serious problem.

if some fans point this out thats one thing.  but if all fans do it.  himmmm

A big part of any competitive sport is M-O-M-E-N-T-U-M.  That's right momentum and to gain momentum you have to have energy and HEART.  It seems like Willie has tried to infuse Yankee Class without the tradition of winning.  Also with less talented lineup then the Yankees get year in and year out.  We have decent to great players, but they have been using
