Call me crazy, but I think Max Scherzer is ready for the majors. I have not seen him pitch, but based on his stats in Tucson, I think he should get the call and join the rotation.

12 IP, 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.56 WHIP, 18 K, 2 BB

He is coming off of an 11 strikeout game on Saturday. He only allowed 3 hits and an unearned run in 7 innings.

I think Edgar Gonzalez is more suited in the long relief role. He has struggled in his two starts this season, and I think Scherzer would be fine in the rotation.

Any thoughts?

A i agree with you man. I was hoping he would get a chance last year but it didnt happen. I saw him pitch in college when he was in missouri and he looked awesome. He has an crazy fastball one of the best in the bigs i think when he gets called up. Hopely dbacks can give the kid a chance soon `The Next Tim Lincicecum` however u spell it

I agree with you.  Based on his stats, and the situation with the team currently I say bring him up.  I did  see him pitch in fall ball, he was a reliever, and in my opinion not overly impressive.  He wasn't bad, he didn't give up any runs for the two innings he pitched, but I suppose I was expecting him to blow people away.

100% agree that Edgar Gonzalez is a long reliever.  He is perfect in that role.  He can throw two or three innings with no problem, but he is a very sketchy starter.  Either good, or really bad.

The team has nothing to lose.  If Scherzer doesn't work out, Doug Davis will be back in six weeks.  If he does, they can find a way to work him into the rotation or the bullpen.  Scherzer is not that young either, I believe he's 23-24, not too young when you look at the rest of the team.

Max Scherzer, as he is one of my favorite prospects of ours, is pretty wild and can get in trouble with walks and wild pitches here and there. Besides, who's spot is he gonna take in the bullpen? Medders and Slaten don't have any options left.

As far as Edgar, he has struggled in his first 2 starts? Really? I guess 5 innings giving up just 1 run isn't enough for you? Apparently that is struggling in your book?

11 more strikeouts for Max Scherzer in 5 shutout innings for AAA-Tucson on Thursday.

He has a 0.00 ERA, 29 strikeouts, and 3 walks in 17 innings.

I am still wondering when the Diamondbacks will call him up.

I think if Edgar struggles today they could call up Sherzer, but I dont know if it's possible to struggle vs. the Padres offense. We''ll see what happens.....

Arizona has one of the best Farm systems in the League, and Max Scherzer is in it. I say we give him a chance, he could only make our pitching rotation better. D-Backs really should consider switching Randy Johnson to Middle Reliver or Closer.
